Agitator won’t work. Spins freely both ways
Followed YouTube video. Pull fabric softener cap off. Pull the clear round disk plug up and out with two fingers spread. Loosen bolt. Reach down at base of agitator and pull it out. Clean. Replace parts. Very straight forward doing a one for one swap. All parts were stripped. Good as new now.
I went to a site that helped me diagnose the potential problems with my washer. It was the dogs that had gone bad and we're no longer gripping the upper agitator. ... Read morekets spun freely. I used a bolt extractor and it came out with only a little effort.
From there, I was able to pop out the agitator and separate the two halves. The old cam kit was definitely trashed. It was easy to remove. I mistakenly put the yellow plastic retainer on the cam kit on upside down, which meant it failed to lock into place. As a result, when I first tried to put it in, it fell apart. I realized the error and adjusted.
It was a little tricky to line up the cam kit correctly, but only took a few tries. It snapped into place pretty easily.
I replaced the large o-ring around the cap barrier, so that this new bolt will hopefully not rust so easily.
It was easy enough to get the agitator back together and in place. It works great now.
Following the video that was supplied with my order was super helpful. Watching it though made the job seem very easy of which it really wasn't. ... Read mores well. Getting the tub off without cracking it was a challenge for sure. Eventually rocking it and adding a bit of WD-40 to the shaft if eventually came off. Once it was off I was able to replace the Tub Wear Pads quite easily. Getting to it was the challenge. Installing new wear pads and new suspension springs fixed the problem. Once I had the casing back together I replaced the agitator cam set as well. I figured as long as I already had it apart why not be proactive and fix the next to fail and boy am I glad I did. Once I had it out it just fell apart in my hands with the cams showing almost no ribs at all left to latch onto.
Upper agitator would not push clothes down as required for cleaning
I went on YouTube and seen how to do this job it showed it to be quite simple I then went on parts select.com put in my model serial number and was able to come up with a complete parts breakdown I then ordered the parts that I needed when they arrived I installed them the washer is working great thank you Parts select

Upper agitator would not move
Begin by removing the fabric softener dispenser then the barrier cap can be pulled from the agitator this will allow access to the agitator retainer bolt use an 11mm socket and extension to remove it once the bolt is out the agitator assembly can be pulled straight up out of the machine. To separate the upper agitator from the lower placi

Read moreng the agitator on the floor and placing your feet on the lower half and pulling up on the upper half will separate the two parts, however before performing this operation the agitator cam assembly may be heat set in place, looking down into the upper agitator there are four lugs that hold the cam in place if you use a sharp knife and cut thru the areas that have been heated and welded together separation of the two half's will be made easier. Once all the old cam parts are out reassemble the new parts the same way as the old ones were removed, the cam kit and the thrust washer kit come with a diagram in case you forget how to reassemble the parts. The agitator assembly simply slips back onto the drive splines, the attachment bolt has a seal under it that can be crushed if the attachment bolt is tightened too tight, I could not find a torque specification for this bolt so what I did was tighten the bolt until it contacted the seal completely and then applied just enough torque to turn the bolt until the agitator began to turn along with the bolt, then just install the barrier cap and seal and replace the fabric softener dispenser and the job is done, if you're washer is like mine I spent more time cleaning parts than actually performing this repair.

The top part of the agitator just goes around and does not push the clothing down.

Hello Di, Thank you for the question. I suggest checking the Agitator Directional Cogs, PartSelect Number PS388034. They are also sold as a kit PartSelect Number PS334648. If broken or worn, they can cause this issue. Hope this helps!
Washer bangs loudly and moves around mostly near the end of spin cycle. Suspension looks ok. Tub seems balanced correctly. Belt looks good. Any suggestions. Otherwise still washes the clothes fine.

Washer stopped in mid cycle yesterday so I turned it off and back on again, it make a grinding noise for a couple of seconds while it tried to agitate then stopped working and only makes a humming sound now when turned on. Will fill with water but wont agitate or spin. Any suggestions on what might be the problem?

Hello Brad, thank you for the question. The main parts that are relevant to your issue are the drive motor coupling, part number PS1485646, and agitator directional cogs, part number PS388034. The agitator's directional cogs ratchet across the gear teeth in one direction and dig into the gear teeth in the opposite direction to create agitation. The motor coupling is a flexible coupling that connects the motor shaft to the direct-drive transmission. You may need to check these parts, as they are responsible for the agitation of your washer.
