Quiet a noisy, walking washing machine
It was a miracle. We were going to get rid of the washing machine because it made so much noise and rattled the whole house. It also 'walked' across the room with every load.
I simply replaced the wear pads (2 of them were already worn away), and now it is as quiet as when it was new. AMAZING!

Parts were exactly as I expected and fit perfectly. Machine works much better now. Only problem was how long it took to get parts.

About an hour to complete project.
First I tried the spring kit but ultimately it was the bushings causing my washer to wobble.

Excessive tub wobble, tubs leaning forward of normal
Washer is 29 years old. Found that tub spring hooks into a simple (non-reinforced) hole in the base frame, and it had worn the hole through through the edge of the frame (key hole style). Due to age and low cost of parts, ordered all suspension springs, brackets, & pads. Once they arrived, took the tubs out (first time for that), found
... Read more that the suspension pads looked fine, but the wear pads showed a lot of wear and the front one was snapped in the middle, perhaps an after effect of the spring failure. From my lack of attention, initially tried to get front pad into the wrong set of holes, a bad fit; corrected. Simply drilled a near-by hole in the base frame for the tub spring.
While the tubs were out, took them outside and scrubbed them clean. Also cleaned agitator parts using bottle brushes. Followed the PartSelect videos and owner comments for procedures, methods. Found that some miss some important info, but if you watch others you can combine the info to find what you need re disassembly/assembly.
At one point while attempting to remove the outer tub, did not realize that the screw that holds the rear spring bracket to the tub also holds the tub to the suspension plate.
Took me most of a day for the whole process, and I ended up with pulled/spasmic muscles from all the bending over, mostly from cleaning parts I think. Very helpful to have the parts breakout drawings, videos, others' experience.

Washer vibrates excessively on spin cycle
I followed the online instructions to remove the shell and attempted to remove the drum, but not having the special wrench to remove the special nut, tried using a screwdriver and hammer, which failed to loosen the nut. I then started examining the the undercarriage and saw that I could replace the springs without removing the tub and di
... Read mored that. In the course of replacing the springs I discovered I could also access the wear pads by lifting the drum off of the undercarriage and placing a block to hold it above the pads. I was able to pop the old pads out by tapping underneath them with a hammer. The new pads were then installed and the weight of the drum popped them in. It was necessary to lift the drum assembly three times for each of the three pads.
Following the video that was supplied with my order was super helpful. Watching it though made the job seem very easy of which it really wasn't. My washer is about 6 years old so it had a LOT of build up on EVERYTHING making the disassembly harder than you may think. Once apart I needed to really scrub everything clean before reassembly a

Once it was off I was able to replace the Tub Wear Pads quite easily. Getting to it was the challenge. Installing new wear pads and new suspension springs fixed the problem. Once I had the casing back together I replaced the agitator cam set as well. I figured as long as I already had it apart why not be proactive and fix the next to fail and boy am I glad I did. Once I had it out it just fell apart in my hands with the cams showing almost no ribs at all left to latch onto.
Well, after resolving Part Select (PS) shipping issues (PS sent me two refrigerator glass shelves instead of a Tub Spring); And as it turns out they sent me the wrong part for the suspension pads, which I have returned for credit. It takes 3-4 weeks to obtain your credit BTW.
Well after removing the cabinet, agitator, wash bask

Thank God, as PS had sent wrong parts. I replaced the wear pads, the 5 springs, and reversed the disassembly process. Took about 6 hours. But washer works fine now, still vibrates, but does not walk across floor any more.
loud noise during spin cycle, then not spinning at all
Watching videos identified what parts to purchase. Once identified - WATCH EACH PARTS VIDEO (again). Machine made loud banging noise and vibration when running and tub ran off center
Disassembled top control console and surrounding sheet metal cabinet per the video from this site. i then used a screw driver to carefully pry up each wear pad location individually and inserted the wood wedge. to about 1 1/2 inch height. rwmoved the old wear pads and popped in the new pads one by one. At first my washer would not spin so i replaced the clutch. Now my washer dances across the floor so i replaced all of the springs. It still dances and makes an aweful banging noise. I am thinking it might be the tube wear pads. Should i be looking at something else?
For model number WTW5540SQ0
Hi Gregory,
Thank you for your question. If your washer is shaking and moving, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the tub wear pads, the suspensions pads, the agitator directional cogs, the leveling legs, the tub ring and the balance ring. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!
