Drive Motor with Pulley 279827

My dryer has been increasingly difficult to start over the last few weeks. Now it won't start at all. When i set the timer and press the button to start it there's a humming sound as if it's trying to start. If i hold the start button long enough it will "time out" for a few minutes before i can try again. This is also accompanied by a burning smell. I'm assuming it has something to do with the motor or pulley, but i'm not sure. Any advice would be great!

My electric dryer motor, part 279827, locked up, bearings going bad. I have two older dryer motors, slightly different plug setup but basically same motor and setup. Installed the older of the two, possibly from a gas dryer, and the dryer runs fine, heats, does all it should, except it runs the drum at way too high an rpm, more like a centrifuge than a tumble, and clothes don't dry. I have a second spare older motor and it says it runs at 1725 rpm. I have no idea what the original 279827 motor ran at, no one seems to care or list what rpm the motor runs at. Does anyone here know or can look that bit of data up? I can order a replacement motor of the same kind but would like for now to get the dryer working with one of these older compatible motors, if i can just figure out the rpm issue.

Dryer, no heat, tumbles fine. All lint removed from dryer and near the fan, replaced thermostat, thermal fuse, hi-temp fuse, heating element, timer is good, and the power is good. The other parts tester fine for continuity and resistance. Is it possible that the motor switch is bad?

Dryer still heats and tumbles. But making loud squeezing sound. I think the bearing is going bad

Hello i have a gas dryer. I am replacing the motor. I noticed on the one i received it says 120/60, 6.0 a and the one that is in my dryer that i am replacing is 115 / 60, 5.9 a. Does that matter? It's the only motor that came up.

Dryer will start and run for a very short time. By holding in the start button it will continue to run to end of selected cycle with good heat. Thermal cut off, operating thermostat, and hi limit thermostats have been replaced. The only other thing i can think of that could cause this is the latching circuit that allows the motor to continue running without the start switch contacts being engaged. Is that located on the motor? The wiring diagram shows some sort of switch (solenoid?) labeled 3M, 4m, 5m and 6m. The door switch works properly as nothing will start/run with the door open. The timer system seems to work properly as long as the start switch is held in.

When i push the start button the drum spins very slow until the clothes start to move then slowly picks up speed. Sometimes i even have to help speed n the drum to get it started spinning fast enough that it will keep goin. What could be wrong?

Wash cloth slipped out of the drum & got tangled in the motor. Replaced support rollers but now dryer won't start. All switches & fuses tested ok with multimeter. Is the motor shot?

How to test motor for no heat condition

My drier will run for about 1.5 - 2 minutes before shutting off. Once it is hot, it takes several minutes before it will start again for another 1.5 - 2 minutes. I have replaced the thermal fuse and thermostat internal bias. Could it be another sensor or perhaps the motor?
