With this thermostat, a dryer's heating element will cut out if the internal temperature reaches 205 degrees Fahrenheit. The element will kick back in when the temperature drops to 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

dryer wouldnt heat
All parts were correct is what I should say to begin. Replacing the parts was a bit difficult, but I got the job done. My Kenmore dryer has been serving our needs faithfully for 14 plus years, and hopefully with these new parts, it will last a bit longer, thanks to your service parts. Much appreciated, and keep up the good work!
I unplugged the appliance and turned off the gas supply. I removed the exhaust hose by loosening the clamp with a nutdriver. I removed the back panel screws with a nutdriver and removed the panel. I pulled the wire connectors off of the thermostat and thermal fuse. I removed both parts using a screwdriver. The thermostat terminals we
... Read morere slightly different, but the new style terminal ends came with the thermostat. I cut the old style terminal ends off of the old wiring with wire cutters. I stripped the wires and crimped new ends on the wires. I replaced the parts and wiring in the reverse order of removal. I replaced the back panel and exhaust hose. I turned on the gas supply and plugged in the dryer. I turned the dryer on to test it. It worked well. No problem!

The dryer seems to be on full heat no matter the setting except for the no heat setting. Is this most likely a thermostat problem or a switch problem.

Thank you for your question. That sounds like it could be the issue. I would suggest testing your high limit thermostat and the fuse that is right beside it on your heating element. You could also test your cycling thermostat on your blower housing as well just to be sure. You can test all of these parts with a multi meter. They should all read 0 ohms if they are working. The thermostat i am replacing has only two electric terminals. This part showing has three electric terminals. Do i only use two of the terminals and if so which two do i use.

Looking for part 696707 (no longer made?). Says 279048 is replacement. This new part does not have the oval base plate, and checking if part works with my model# … says "no"
