Easy Repair-Worked as expected
The flapper on my dispenser wasn’t closing and finally the solenoid started making a loud buzzing noise when dispensing ice. Also, another fun by product of the flapper not closing was the water dispenser line froze-so no water coming out either. Replaced the old solenoid (rusted badly) along with the two bottom screws. Cleaned everything thoroughly and now works perfectly! Had to use the hair dryer trick and leave the door open for awhile but water runs like it’s supposed to again. This was an easy repair and the video is very helpful.

No water to the ice maker and dispenser door would not close completely
When I ordered from the website, they offered a repair video and I followed the installation details with no problems.
Door flapper on ice cube dispenser wouldn’t close so there was frost/ice buildup
I followed the instruction video for solenoid replacement and everything went as described. But, the problem persists so maybe I need to change out more parts.

water dispenser not working
I replaced the water solenoid kit,control board and a broken dispenser assembly crank.My repair went well, parts came on time,I watched an R&R video on youtube provided by PartSelect and finished the job in ten minutes. I am one happy do it yourself-er customer.
1. Either unplug the refrigerator or shut the circuit breaker off for the outlet that it's plugged into. 2. Pull off the front panel (approx 3" x 8") 3. Remove the 4 philips head screws. 4. Pull the unit toward you a
... Read morend down to expose the solenoid. 5. Unplug the plug on the left side of the control board. 6. Write down the color of the two wires that are attached to the solenoid and remove them. 7. Remove the 3 screws on the bottom of the solenoide. The center screw will have a green ground wire attached to it. 8. There is also a screw at the top of the solenoid that you may have to loosen a bit to remove the solenoid. Be sure to remove the old plunger too. 9. Just reverse the process to install the new Solenoid. Turn the power back on and try it. This however did not fix my problem, I had to order the control board and install it. Then, everything worked fine. I ordered the Actuator Pad just to have it on hand. My refrigerator is 14 yrs. old.
1. Unplug refrigerator or flip breaker to kill power to the refrigerator. 2. With hands, gently pull the bottom lip of the 3" X 11" face plate panel above the dispenser head. 3. Remove the 4 screws that are under the removed panel. 4. Tip the assemby down to reveal 2 plugs. 5. Gently pull the 2 plugs to disconnect.
... Read more 6. Open the assembly to reveal the solenoid. 7. There are 3 screws at the base of the solenoid. The center screw attaches to the green ground wire. 8. Remove the three screws. 9. Observe: The bracket at the top of the solenoid unit tucks behind a 4th screw above the solenoid. You may need to loosen this screw to relesae the solenoid. 10.Unplug the yellow and red connector to the solenoid. It should not be totally free to remove. 11. Put the plunger into the solenoid. Note that the plunger has an opening to insert the white plastic trigger for the trap door. Make sure the trigger is inserted into this opening before reassembling. 12. Plug the yellow and red connector into the new solenoid. 13. Position the new solenoid to match the screw holes. The bracket at the top of the solenoid tucks under the 4th screw. Tighten as necessary. 14. Insert the green ground wire into the middle screw hole at the base of the solenoid and tighten. 15. Insert the two screws to either side of the ground wire and tighten. 16. Gently reconnect the two plugs. 17. Tip the assembly back into place making sure the trap door and hoses are lined up correctly. 18. Replace the 4 screws. 19. Snap the face plate back into place. 20. Turn on the power and give it a try!
I used other instructions provided by customers on the website. They were very useful.
This is the second time we replaced this unit. The first replacement failed within the one-year warranty period. I called customer service and they had a replacement part and refund for the previous part on its way immediately. Excellent service!

Ice Dispenser Door does not close properly
Followed previous description, when the face plate came off, parts appeared straight forward. I turned off the refringerator at the circuit breaker, so didn't have to move it.
Ice maker had to be removed from refrigerator, solenoid removed with four screws. Fairly easy repair and the part was delivered the day after it was ordered.. superfast repair.

The control lever on the water/ice dispenser dispenses water and ice cubes but does not work on the crushed ice setting. What part should i replace?Thanks.

Hello Joe,thank you for your question. Based on the information I have found, it sounds like this problem is caused because of a locked shifter. You will need to remove the ice bucket assembly from the refrigerator and empty the ice into a container and place it back in the freezer. Rinse the the bucket with warm water all around the dispensing end and allow the bucket to dry. After the bucket has dried place the ice back in it and install it back in the refrigerator. If that doesn't fix the issue, you would want to test the PartSelect Number: PS11699580 - Crushed/Cubed Ice Solenoid Kit. I hope this helps!

I do not get water from the water dispenser. I replaced the dispenser control board but that did not help. I get water to the ice maker which continues to make ice but no water. I have also replaced the filter.

Hi Gene,
Thank you for your question. I would suggest testing your water inlet valve. Your valve has two solenoids on it. One for the ice maker and one for the water dispenser. It may be that your water dispenser solenoid has stopped working. Good luck with your repair.

Does not switch from crushed ice to cubes. I replaced the solenoid behind the ice maker. No change. Very noisy when i am getting ice through the door. No problem with water dispensing and no noise .

Hello Jack, thank you for your question. If the Crushed/Cubed Ice Solenoid Kit PartSelect Number: PS11699580 has been replaced and the unit is still not dispensing ice, we would recommend testing/replacing the auger motor, PartSelect Number: PS8259956 micro switch, and Dispenser Door Solenoid Assembly Part #: PS1483583. If those parts are tested and are fine, the issue might be the dispenser board which has been discontinued. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your question. If ice and water are not being dispensed, the issue could be the dispenser switch, but there are some other parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will also need to check the ice maker switch, the actuator pad, the ice maker, the dispenser door assembly or flapper, the plastic tubing, the water inlet valve and the dispenser door solenoid. Water drips through when not in use.

Hi Michael, Thank you for the question. This sounds like the Dual Inlet Water Valve,PartSelect Number PS901314 is "stuck" open on the dispenser side and allowing water to flow through causing the drip. You can also test the Dispenser Switch,PartSelect Number PS296301 for continuity with a Multi Meter. Hope this helps!

My ice dispenser sticks and continues to spew ice out the freezer door until you open the door to get it to stop. A few years ago I replace the control board, but was wondering if the solenoid is what to look at now.

Hello Charles, Thank you for the question. In most cases the Dispenser Door Assembly or Flapper, PartSelect Number PS964304 is replaced when the dispenser is dispensing to much ice. Hope this helps!
I asked a question yesterday and was happy to receive an answer today, however I am not clear on how the flapper door is the correct solution. My ice dispenser continues to operate even after you have removed the pressure from the dispenser pad and the only way it stopped was to open the door which I believe breaks the electric circuit. Therefore I think that since the flapper is not electric in itself there must be either a solenoid or micro switch that is sticking. Could you please respond again thanks
