This water valve assembly has been redesigned. It has a new quick connect style valve. To install: Cut original plastic nuts off tubing and gently push into valve until they stop. No other nuts or connectors needed.

As was the experience shared by so many others, there really was little to the repair apart from swapping out electrical connections and water tubing. The only"trick" involved making sure the tubing run for the finished repair matched the original. Then check for leaks (being careful not to overtighten the water supply tubing--it's not unusual to see a slight "bleed" around the connection at the valve which is easily remedied with a Crescent or appropriate box wrench), plug the fridge in and move it back. Enjoy the fresh, cold water.

water dispenser failed then plastic tubing cracked leaking water on kitchen floor
Watched you tube video a few times,very helpful.A word of advice take a good,look at the part you are replacing before ordering,dont go by model #,I ordered according to the model and that part did not fit. You also need a 5/16 snap on union for one of the cracked lines,ordered it from GE worked fine.

Removed 4 screws holding back, removed water connection, removed screw holding bracket to frame disconnected electrical removed lines connected to valve assembly and installed valve assembly in reverse order.,

Not water or ice
Like others have described. Turn off water and unplug appliance. Remove back plate, remove bracket assembly, disconnect lines (push plastic rings in and pull on tubes) after marking with marker. Reconnect, lines, bracket assembly, panel. Water worked immediately, blowing air out momentarily until water flowed. Took a few times of manually

Water was leaking under and behind the refrigerator.
I pulled the unit out, removed the lower access panel in the back. The receiving unit of the water line (Water Valve Assembly), had water spraying out of it which appeared to be as fine as a stran of hair. Aside from the wire attachments and multiple hoses attached to it, it was really easy to remove the old one and install the new one.

Water leaking when trying to dispense water
Replaced hose that cracked from over heating with new hose and couplers. This refrigerator will over heat easily and has been a real pain because of it. Must keep it clean and vacuum dust by removing back cover.

Valve body leaking
Unplugged unit. Closed water valve at wall. Removed back cover. Disconnected wiring. Removed valve body and cut hoses one at a time placed them in the new part. Re- connected wiring and attached part and backing. Turned water back on and plugged in chord.

Water dispenser on door not working, but ice maker makes ice.
The hard part of this repair is moving the refrigerator away from the wall and cleaning all the dirt from the fan, condenser and area. Removing the old water valve takes about 5 minutes. I put some teflon tape on the main water connection & reconnected water line to valve assembly. Moved valve assembly back into position and installed with one screw. Installed the back cover with 5 screws, moved the refrigerator back and checked for water. The water dispenser works better than new and so does the icemaker. Thanks to partsselect.com for the help.

Disconnect unit from electric outlet, remove the lower back panel, locate water valve at lower left corner, Mine had a noticeable leak from blue water valve assembly. Turn off water supply, remove water valve assembly from unit, remove push and pull water tubes and harnesses.

Cool water dispenser would not deliver water.
Problem was not solved by replacing water valve. Seems that if the water reservor temp in the fresh food section is too cool, it will form ice plugs in the line to the dispensor on the freezer door. Currently running both section on the 5 and 5 temperture settings.

The problem: Anytime the ice maker fills with water, a small amount of water comes out the water dispenser (for filling cup or glass) maybe several tablespoons worth. Over a period of time, if not watched (and several ice maker refill cycles), water overflows drain area and spills onto floor.
