The refigerator not getting cold and the freezer coils where a solid block of ice while the refrigerator never turned off.
After finding your web site, the description of my problem was pretty clearly referenced as to what parts where the likely problem. When I received the parts it was only a matter of unplugging the refrigerator, removing the cover in the freezer and cutting and stripping the two color coded wires for the thermostat and wire nutting the wir
... Read morees and putting wire tape on them. Then put the coil cover back on. Then in the refrigerator section, remove the controls cover and then take the controls compartment loose and unfasten the old defrost control, and install the new one. Then put every thing back in place. Plug the refrigerator back up and set the temperature to medium.
Removed the back cover of freezer to acess the coil. Turned the timer to defrost and checked the voltage across the heater. Didn't have any. Stayed on the common side of heater and measured on both sides of thermostat and one side didn't have any voltage. Shorted the thermostat wires together and heater started working.

Refrigerator and freezer are both warm
For model number tbx18sibrrww
Hello Tom, hank you for your question. If the fridge and freezer are both warm on the appliance remove the back wall of the freezer to see if there is ice, or frost build up on the coils. If there is you will want to replace the defrost thermostat part number WR50X10010 and defrost heater part number WR51X464. If there is no frost, you should check the thermostat part number WR9X559 and the evaporator fan motor WR60X190. I hope this helps!

Hi my freezer works fine for a time then it will get very warm, much warmer than during the normal frost-free cycle, frozen stuff in the freezer will begin thaw, then after a time it will get cold and everything will freeze again. Any suggestions?

Hello Bill, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Defrost Thermostat, PartSelect Number PS303434. The best way to do this is to remove the thermostat from the refrigerator so you can control the temperature of the sensor. You can let the sensor warm up to room temperature. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. With the thermistor submerged is a glass full of ice water, the sensor should be very close to 32°F which should read approximately 16.3K Ohms. If the values that you are getting are far off from these readings, then the sensor is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps!

Hello, I have model #tbx211ablrww general electric refrigerator that may be 25 30 years old. My problem is that my freezer is cold but frost is the back panel and is not fully Freezing liquids and food. The refrigerator is warm. Trying to decide what should I purchase first, defrost timer or defrost thermostat? Also, if I purchase the thermostat I doubt the wires can be installed using wirenuts and wires are the same color. My freezer always works good, but it takes about one month for icy build up in it to cause regrigeration to stop cooling sufficiently. I defrost it by disconnecting power and after that it starts cooling well again until ice in freezer builds up again. Is this the right part to replace? Thank you

Our refrigerator has a buildup of ice in freezer compartment and ice maker does not work, water dispenser working good. What could be the problem?

Hi Edwin,
Thank you for the question. It sounds like the Water Valve part number PS901314 might be defective. The valve could be letting to much water into the ice maker causing it to freeze up and not make ice and overflowing creating a ice build up in the freezer. The valve has two sides, one for the ice maker and one for the dispenser and one side could be defective causing the issue with the ice maker but not the dispenser.
