Refrigerator Door Would Not Close
Kenmore 24 cu.ft. Side by Side Refrigerator. The bottom cam on the fresh food side of our refrigerator broke causing the door to stay open about 4 inches. We had to lift the door up about an inch to close it. We removed the top bracket cover by removing one screw with a screwdriver. We then removed two screws with a ratchet and socket, to remove the top bracket, which allowed us to lift the door up and off of the refrigerator. We removed two screws with a socket to remove the Door Cam and Shim. We replace the Shim, and Door Cam with the two screws. Make sure you line the Cam up with the hole it goes over, and tighten it up. Place the door over the bottom bracket, and replace and adjust the top bracket and cover.

Door would not shut by itself.
I followed the directions on the computer and everything went just as the video said it would. This was one of the easiest repairs I have ever done. Usually, it does not go as planned.

Door Cam And Cam On Refridgerator Were Damaged
I did not realize I needed 2 cams to complete repair. Door cam was riveted in. I had to drill out rivet and replace with nut and bolt. Otherwise it went quite sommothly. At first I just replaced the cam on bottom of refridgerator but door was not quite right when closing. Further inspection showed the door had the other half of cam that also needed replacement. Needed 2 orders. Paid for 2 shippings.

We pulled the refrigerator away from the wall and now the left side (refrigerator) door is lower than the freezer side. The door closing cam does need to be replaced on both sides. Will replacing these level the doors out or do i need another part as well?
For model number TFH24PRSAAA
PartSelect logo
Hello Dawn, Thank you for the question. When the appliance was pulled out the shim cam may have slipped out of place since the cam is wore down and not able to hold it in place. Once the cams are replaced and everything is reinstalled, it should sit level. I also suggest checking the shims and other cams before placing an order just in case any other parts have become wore down. Hope this helps!

Hello Darnell, Thank you for your inquiry. If your hinges are not damaged, then you should only need to replace the cam. Hope this helps!
