Product Description

Tub Dampening Strap Specifications

The tub dampening straps support the wash tub and reduce vibration by keeping the tub at the center of the cabinet. If your washer shakes and moves, or is making a loud banging noise during the wash cycle, the washing machine tub could be off-balance, meaning one or more of these straps may be loose, or broken. Other symptoms include: the washer leaking, not agitating, or pumping but not spinning. These straps are sold individually. However, we recommend that you replace all 4 straps at the same time. It is also recommended that you check the tub for cracks where these straps mount.

Inner Tub Base Hub replacement
The tub base hub developed a large crack and spin started to make a large vibration. Agitator coupling was frozen, so I broke it by dremel, wedge (a minus driver) and a hammer. The hub nut was also frozen, so I cut two slits into the nut with dremel, then broke it into two with a wedge and a hammer. Once the hub nut was removed installing new parts was straightforward. Half year ago I replaced the timer and capacitor of this washer and together with this repair the total repair cost has now run up to $300. I think I should have bought a new washer half year ago but now that the repair has been done, I hope it will keep working for at least another 5 years. Otherwise I can't justify the $300 cost.

Noisy while spinning
I dissasembled the machine and it took about 30 minutes. Orderd the parts recommended for noisy spinning. Reinstalled the new parts / changed all drum straps. Cleaned the drain drum and spin drum and after complete reassembly the washer is still noisy in agitation and spin cycle. The motor, transmission, counter weight, and drum look ok but there is still a reason why the machine is still noisy. Spent 120.00 dollars on parts so far but the drum and motor, transmission and counterweight are very expensive to replace. I am just going to keep using the machine until the washer fails to work anymore. I'm not going to put any more money in the washer. I will just buy a new one. It's not hard to dissasembled and reassemble the washer. I purchased the parts that was recommended to fix the washer but they were not the ones. The new parts did help like the tub seal but the bottom line is that the washer is still noisy. I watched your videos to work on the washer and there were no special instructions on disassembly and reassembly. Like always there must be more than i know to repair this washer. Thanks

Would not completely drain all the water out of the tub after the final rinse cycle, with a burning smell from the belt because it could not turn properly.
I followed previous parts select customers advice exactly, of replacing the dampening straps, and it worked perfectly. Thanks-A-Million!

When on the spin cycle the washer makes a loud noise much louder than ever before. Is it the bearing or something else. I checked the rubber straps and the belt and all looks good..if it is the bearing can this be repaired at home?
For model number WHRE5260E1WW

Hi David, Thank you for the question. Yes, the tub bearing PartSelect Number PS271510 is the most common part to replacing when having a lot of noise during the spin cycle. Here is a link to the video on how to do the repair yourself. Hope this helps! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWe8YAMM_Ds

The dampening straps in my washer keep breaking earlier than they should be and I don’t think it has to do with the way I am installing them. Can you clarify whether this would be an installation problem or if there’s something else on the go here
PartSelect logo
Hi Gina, dampening straps break prematurely when the washer is being overloaded, or is frequently off balance during cycle. I hope this helps!

Auto sensor turns water on tot 1 sac won''t fill up
For model number Wtw57esvw1
PartSelect logo
Hi Jerry, Thank you for your question. If the dishwasher is not filling with water, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the direct drive water pump, the sensor switch, the lid switch, the hose clamp and the direct drive motor coupling. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

The washer makes a lot of noise and leaks when washing.
For model number GTWN2800D0WW

Hi Roseanne, Thank you for your question. There are a few parts that you will want to check. The first part to check would be your tub seal. You should also check your nut and washers in that same area as well. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Hello: I bought four ps271100 (tub dampening straps) and after installing it the washer still shakes too much and actually sounds like the tub is hitting the sides of the washer. Are there shorter straps that i could buy or do you have any other suggestions on how to avoid the tub shaking so much. Thanks

When my washer is agitating it’s making a moaning noise like it’s suffering or something. When its filling up with water or draining it doesn’t seem to make that noise. Could the washer tub need new dampening straps
PartSelect logo
Hi Rema, based on your symptoms we would not recommend new dampening straps. It sounds more like it could be a motor straining, or a faulty mode shifter. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Could it be that the dampening straps are not broken but maybe stretched and causing the washer tub to sit one sided?
PartSelect logo
Hi Roger, Thank you for your question. That may be the issue. The only way you will know is if you check the straps. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
