The timer knob clip on your washing machine connects the timer knob to the control panel. If your timer knob is damaged or will not stay in place, you may need to replace the clip. If the timer does not advance or the washing machine will not start, this may also be a symptom of a damaged timer knob clip. This part is clear plastic and is about 1 inch in size. Many of our customers have rated this repair as easy, and the only tools you may require are a set of needle-nose pliers. This is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer.

worked as expected
PartSelect inventory has allowed me to keep my 25-year-old washing machine running with other parts I've ordered besides this one. I can't bring myself to buy a new washing machine and dryer because of the terrible reviews everywhere about all the new ones.

Timer knob spins freely, does not engage.
You would think the timer was bad but it wasn't. The timer mount engineered is not sufficient and mounts brake so timer gets pushed off of broken mounts, then timer does not catch. Pathetic. Mount a U type bracket on back of metal back plate which acts as a stop for the timer. Use duct tape timer to keep timer from sliding down.
Initially I thought just the timer knob would take care of my washer not working, but that was too naive of me, lol. I had to replace the timer knob & clip, the compression dial and the agitator and the agitator coupling. In other words I rebuilt my washer using the installation video's provided here. I now have a "bra
... Read morend new" washing machine for a total of less than$100 and it is working perfectly!
Pry the cap off of the top of the agitator, then one 7/16 bolt to remove the agitator (takes around 15" of extensions to reach the bolt and there is a small o-ring under the bolt that you don't want to miss). The hard part is getting the old coupler out of the agitator. Four lock tabs need to be held back while the coupler is pulled
... Read more out. I warmed it all up with a heat gun, pried the tabs back with screw drivers, and pulled the coupler out with a pair of Channel Locks. Kinda like pulling a very big tooth. After that, all was easy. Line the new coupler up with the locator splines in the agitator, knock it in with a rubber mallet. Slide the agitator back on the shaft, run the bolt back in and tighten (don't forget the o-ring), pop the cap back on. Done.
Timer knob was broken AND it was falling down from center
First I unplugged the washer and removed the old knob and compression ring hoping that the new ones would be centered. Everything still dropped, so I opened up the panel from the back and found that a very thin plastic piece which held the knob and associated timer behind it in place was broken on one side. I taped the timer in place with
... Read more duct tape, then made a little support out of some stiff cardboard and taped that underneath the time to support it from below. Then I closed the panel back up and applied the new ring, knob, and clip. So far, everything is working fine! The new knob came with a clip, so I have an extra clip... This was not really very hard, but I had to figure out the additional steps to take because of the broken plastic inside.
Pulled off the handle with the kneedle nose pliers replaced the plastic piece in that, then pulled off the plate that turns the machine on and just snapped the new one on. Only took seconds and saved alot of money. Considering just to have a repair man come to see what was wrong would have cost me $88.00.

Dial Spins Too Freely
The grooves on the bottom of the control knob were worn away. I just pushed the timer knob clip off of the underside of the knob, removed it from the washer and put the new knob on and put the clip back on. It was a piece of cake!

Water runs in but the tub does not fill up. Can you help?
Hello Victoria,
Thanks for your question. There are a few different parts you may wish to test with a multimeter for electrical continuity in this situation. Check the water inlet valve, the lid switch, the selector switch & water temperature switch, the water level pressure switch, and examine the inlet hoses for any signs of damage. If all of these are intact, the timer could be at fault.
This article on our website has further details that may be of assistance: https://www.partselect.com/Repair/Washer/Not-Filling-With-Water/
I hope this helps.
