dryer was cutting off completely.
The problem was intermittent. It only happened when the unit was first started. After it was restarted it usually worked until the load was dry. I looked at the schematics and saw that only the hi-temp therostat and the motor overload could stop the dryer completely. I put my volt meter on the hi-temp thermostat and ran the dryer. When the dryer stopped I realized the hi-temp therm. was tripping. I read the web site help for this symptom and the suggestion was the bias therm.
I replaced it and the unit worked.

Dryer wouldn't heat up
I wanted to fix the cheapest possible problem first which was the thermostat.

Got the dryer apart and it was the wrong thermostat for the dryer, which was good news! I looked in inside floor of the dryer cabinet and saw alot of tiny "springs". Couldn't figure how they got there.

Turned out they were coils from the heating element. Must have burnt out and fell free from the element. So I ordered that and replaced it.

I want to say that I'm in NJ and I ordered that thermostat and got it in ONE DAY! Thought that was too good to be true but when I ordered the heating element THAT CAME IN ONE DAY!

I don't know what kind of people work in the shipping department but they are awesome! You really made the difference on this job.

So did the info on your website. I've never even seen a dryer apart before. It was a piece of cake thanks to you guys. You just saved me about $500.

I need some help diagnosing my issue: Gas dryer starts fine and sometimes works the full cycle, more often, it stops after 5 or so minutes of operation (drum and Flame stop). I've replaced the gas valve coils with no change in behavior. The fact that it's intermittent puzzles me.

Gas dryer seems to be overheating and shutting down. I think the problem is one of the cycling thermostats ( drum outlet or control inlet ). Can you provide any info that might lean towards one of them being the problem?
For model number gtdp300gm1ws

Hello Mike, thank you for contacting us. For both the over heating and the shutting down the Cycling Thermostat part number PS267926 and this Bias Thermostat part number PS267949 for your model may be the cause. Good luck with your repair!

On the ge cycling thermostat do the two small terminals have continuity across then when it is at room temperature. And what are these terminal for
PartSelect logo
Hello Bruce, thank you for your inquiry. Yes, the terminals need to have continuity across them when at room temperature. If they do not have continuity, the thermostat is faulty and needs to be replaced. The small terminals are for the small heater used to control low heat settings. We hope this is what you were looking for!

I am getting to much heat on regular cycles 154 degrees. GE spec is 125 on delicate and 135 on regular / high heat. I assume it to be the thermostat has gone bad. Can you confirm?
For model number DBXR463EG7CC
PartSelect logo
Hi Gary, thank you for the question. Yes, the issue could be with the dryer cycling thermostat, part number PS267926. It monitors and regulates the temperature inside the dryer. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this sorts out your problem!

Unit totally de ad. Have power as far as thermal switch nothing beyond. Test fr continuity on swtch shows some resistance. I dont knoww if this unit is self resetting.
For model number GTMX180GD2WW
PartSelect logo
Hello Robert, thank you for your question. he first parts we would recommend testing are the thermostats. The bias thermostat, cycling thermostat, high limit and safety thermostat. Set your multimeter to the R X 1 setting. Take each of your meter's probes and touch one to each terminal. You are testing for continuity, and you should receive a reading of either zero or infinity. At room temperature, testing the thermostat should produce a reading of zero. But if a thermostat is tested when it is heated to its limit, a reading of infinity should be produced. We strongly recommend that you test your thermostat at room temperature. If the test you conduct with your thermostat does not produce these results, then you should replace the component. I hope this helps!

The dryer will run for awhile but then . It will do a cycle but then when we try another load it shuts off constantly. Almost like it thinks it's too hot or something, like a safety switch of some sort.
For model number Gtdx400ed0ws
PartSelect logo
Hello Josh and thanks for writing. A dryer that shuts off mid-cycle can mean that you have a defective motor. A defective motor typically means that it will run a lot hotter than usual and will cause it to overload. When the motor becomes too hot it will typically shut off to cool down which would cause your dryer to shut off. The other reason could be a faulty cycling thermostat PS267926 and/or faulty high-temperature thermostat # PS267900 check and replace if needed. It is recommended to replace both parts at the same time. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime.

How do you recommend testing the bias and cycling thermostats? Do they have resistance ratings at certain temperatures or do you activate the dryer and test for voltage? My problem: Came home from vacation and utility room was hot. Back of dryer was hot even though not running for a week. One leg of breaker was drawing 5.2 amps with door open or closed. Prior to this, dryer heat was getting intermittent at. Sometimes hot, sometimes warm, sometimes cool, but no pattern. Cycling thermostat or bias thermostat or both?
For model number DPXR473EW0WW
PartSelect logo
Hi Jamie, Thank you for your inquiry. To test the thermostats you will need a multimeter to check the continuity of the thermostats. There are videos online that can show you how to use them. You may also need to check the belt and the heating element as well. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I"ve replaced heating coil and three thermostats on heating case and still no heat from my dryer. Do you think replacing the thermostat on the blower case would get the dryer to working again!
For model number DPSR610EG5WT
PartSelect logo
Hello Thomas, thank you for your question. If the dryer is tumbling but you've got no heat at all, and the three other thermostats and element coil have been replaced, there is really only the Bias Thermostat WE4M216 left to replace. I would recommend replacing this part. I hope this helps!
