This part is the replacement high-limit thermostat or safety thermostat for your dryer. The high-limit thermostat is found on the upper right-hand side of the heater housing, and it cuts off power to the dryer motor if the temperature reaches an unsafe level. If you push the start button and nothing happens, the high-limit thermostat should be tested for continuity and replaced if the contacts are open. Be sure to disconnect power to the dryer before you begin this repair. This part is sold individually and is an OEM part.

GE Dryer Right High Limit
Dryer would intermittently stop early in cycle, would not restart until cool down; dryer would start after delay, then run normally. Replaced thermostat and dryer now works properly.

Based on the exact information provided this should be the correct part
As stated should be correct part but after taking dryer all apart and replaced with your part it did the same thing. Now stuck with buying a new dryer. I know this dryer is no more than 6 or 7 years old and died My parents have had their wash and dryer for 30 plus years. Why are things getting worse instead of better?? Can u do anything for my time at least??? Thanks Rodney Beazley

Sorry, the parts may have worked but they did not solve the problem.
I have a Hotpoint dryer, model HTDX100EM8WW, serial # TF759729 and I called "Paula" at Parts Select and told her that while my machine was drying, it took over three hours (2 or 3 cycles) to dry the clothes. That was in November of 2017. She told me that I needed a thermostat L210-30F, part number WE4M181 to solve my problem. I installed it and lo and behold the same condition existed so I called to complain and spoke to both Kelly and Louise and they said that there was another thermostat, part number WE4M137 that I would have to buy and install so I did, this was in March of my problem. I'm also out over a $110.00 dollars in parts and shipping charges that I can't return and I still have an improperly operating dryer. Do you have any suggestions? Can I at least return the parts and apply that money towards a new dryer or perhaps a refurbished one? The ladies I spoke to were all ver courteous and tried to be helpful but they said that the advice that they gave me came from your company trouble shooting guide and that they were not qualified repair people. Putting the parts in and restoring the dryers to operation were easy with the help of the "YouTube" video. In fact everything went great if I only had the correct replacement part to begin with. Fran

Dryer would shut off on heat dry after a couple of minutes. I could feel the heat working. It would only continue to run on fluff/no heat
Pulled the drum an found spade clip burned on wire. Hi limit Thermostat crumbled/ broke while pulling spade clip so I trimmed back the wire, cleaned the spade clip and soldered the wire back on. Isolated the other thermostats in the system and tested for resistance. Reassembled dryer.

What could cause this high limit thermostat to blow if there is no blockage anywhere in the exhaust line? And would it be immediately or over the course of a cycle and the element heating up? Thanks!
For model number GTUN275EM1WW
Hi Troy,
Thank you for your inquiry. I would suggest actually testing your heating element and the wiring next. It could be that there is a short in that part that keeps making your high limit thermostat blow. I hope this helps!

My dryer stops running before the clothes are dry, and it doesn't feel like the dryer is over-heated. The heating element appears to still be on because the top of the dryer continues to get hotter and hotter, even after 5-10 minutes of the dryer being stopped. This is surprising because the dryer is actually stopped. When this happens i cannot re-start the dryer. I turn the dial selector to off so the heater turns off, then in ~10minutes, i am able to re-start the dryer. The dryer does this when the temperature knob is turned to high heat, med heat, and low heat. Thinking what the problem could be, a few months ago i have already replace the thermostat l210-30f (part id ps267926, partselect part number we4m181), and the problem did not go away.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your question. It sounds like you may have too much lint build up inside of your vent and exhaust tubes. When lint builds up in those areas it restricts the air flow. When the air flow is restricted your appliance will over heat and usually blow the fuses and the thermostats, as those are safety elements to make sure your appliance does not over heat. You may also want to test your heating element to make sure that it is working correctly and retest all of your thermostats and your thermal fuses to make sure that they are working as well. Your appliance has two of each of those inside of it. Two by your element and two on your blower housing. You can test all of those parts with a multi meter. Good luck with your repair.

We're is high limit thermostat l315-65 located? Is there anyway to test it?
For model number DCVH640EJ0WW
Hi Barry, Thank you for the question. The high limit thermostat is on the side of the housing for the heating element. To test the thermostat you will need a Ohm meter to check for resistance. Hope this helps !

Dryer won’t start. It is getting full 240 power. What do I check now
For model number HTDP120ED0WW
Hello Beverly, Thank you for the question. If there is power going tot he appliance but nothing works or if the dryer is acting like it has no power, I suggest starting with the Terminal Block and Grounding Strap, PartSelect Number PS1015628 first to make sure it is not damaged or defective. You can also test the High Limit Thermostat, PartSelect Number PS267900. The high-limit thermostat is found on the upper right-hand side of the heater housing, and it cuts off power to the dryer motor if the temperature reaches an unsafe level. Hope this helps!
Can the high limit thermostat switch not allow the dryer to start. We04x26139.
Hi Rick, Thank you for the question. At times it can prevent the appliance to start or it will not allow the element to heat up.Hope this helps!

E61 error on display
For model number Dbvh512ef0ww
Hi Julio, Thank you for the question. The E61 error code indicates a problem in the power supply. Try to remove the appliance from the power source for a few moments then plug it back in. If this does not fix the issue the problem would be in the Main Power Board assembly and it will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!
Will not cycle on auto settings, but will advance on timed cycle, also over heats. The timer and cycling thermostat we4m281 have been replaced.
For model number GTDX200EM0WW
Hi Don, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Safety Thermostat,PartSelect Number PS267911.This thermostat acts as as safety mechanism that keeps the dryer from overheating. You will need a Multi Meter to test the part.I also suggest testing the High Limit Thermostat and the Bias Thermostat. Hope this helps!

My dryer starts whenyou push the start button but is soon as you let off it stops what might that be
For model number Gtdp490ed2ws
Hello Mark, thank you for your question. The issue might be the push to start switch, or it could possibly be the interlock switch. The interlock switch may also be referred to as a belt switch. This part is a simple on/off mechanism that prohibits the appliance from operating when the door is open. The interlock switch senses the door is shut and the dryer can begin. I would test the interlock switch as well as the push to start switch. This link will take you to our site, where you can find some information on testing the door switch as well as the push to start switch.

After running for 2 minutes on sensor, the dryer shuts off and the lights on the front go out. After a couple minutes i hear a click and everything comes back on and it will finish the next 20 minutes or so drying without shutting off. This happens almost all the time. Do any of the t'stats reset themselves or once the kick out they are done? There also feels like there is a lot of heat when it shuts off. I recently replaced the flexible duct with galv. Duct thinking that was the problem, but had to reduce an elbow from 4" to 3" then enlarge it back to 4" because of an obstruction. Could that have anything to do with it also?
For model number DCVH680EJ1WW
Hello Ed, thank you for your question. It sounds like you have an issue with either the high limit, or safety thermostat. If the unit gets too hot the thermostat will shut down the unit as a safety measure. They will reset, and are not "one time only" fuses. I would recommend testing the thermostats on the heating element ( part numbers Safety Thermostat Part Number: PS267911 and Inlet Control Thermostat Part Number: PS1766014 and High Limit Thermostat - L315-65 Part Number: PS267900. I hope this helps!

My dryer was heating up and i just replaced the timer. Now it will not heat anymore , why?
For model number Gtdx180ed4ww
Hello Antonio, thank you for your question. I would recommend checking the timer resistor to be sure it is connected correctly, and tightly. If the resistor is ok, test the thermostats (Cycling Thermostat - 4 Wire Part Number: WE4M181, High Limit Thermostat - L315-65 Part Number: WE4M137, and Bias Thermostat Part Number: WE4M216, It is likely, that the bias thermostat has failed, but its recommended you test the aforementioned thermostats to be certain. I hope this helps!
