This dishwasher door gasket is compatible with those models having a two ear housing and a square spacer. It's gray and it creates a water tight seal around your dishwasher's door.

Part that works
Door gasket for diswaher replaced easily. Now the dishwasher has no leaks. Last time it was changed was 15 years ago. Our 30-year old GE dishwasher, now leak free, cleans and runs as good as it did when new!

leaking from door
researched the problem, listened to you tube, ordered the parts and did the repair. Very easy to do, only took a few minutes.
water leaking from the bottom middle of the door during wash
since they weren't that expensive, I chose to order all 4 gasket parts - the left and right corners, the long gasket, and the small center gasket insert (5" long). For $100 I decided it would either work or not -- at 15+ years old, I could really have gotten a new dishwasher. As it turns out, all of the plastic parts were getting har
... Read mored and brittle and caked with detergent -- and so replacing them ALL was the right choice. they all work together. The corner pieces snapped into place and the gasket had a flexible barbed edge that I fit into place in a channel. I didn't have to take the door off or use any tools. It was a little hard to do since it was upside down and you couldn't see, but better than taking the door off. The new gaskets are soft and pliable and there were no more leaks!
Old door gasket had become hardened and would not seal properly.
Pulled the lower left side end of the old door gasket out of door gasket retaining slot and slowly and evenly continued to work my way around the door pulling the door gasket out of the retaining slot until I reached the end. I installed the new gasket into retaining the retaining slot beginning on lower left side and then slowly and eve

Small leak below lower right corner of door
I took the inner door panel off as described by others on this website, cleaned out all the gunk left by 27 yrs of use, and replaced the door gasket and tub baffles. A Phillips-head screwdriver was required to remove the door panel, but no tools were required to replace any of the parts I ordered. I didn't find it necessary to soak the
... Read moredoor gasket in warm water as it was pretty flexible right out of the package. I recommend stretching the gasket slightly while pressing it into the groove, particularly around corners, or it will end up being too short at the end. The rinse aid tank had also been leaking Jet-Dry for a long time, so I cleaned that mess up as well and tried to replace the tank. Unfortunately, the new tank did not fit my model of dishwasher even though this website and GE's stated that it did. The shaft on the tank that pokes through the inner door panel to the inside of the dishwasher was too short because >2 mm of it was taken up by a thick rubber washer and a hard plastic collar (fused to the shaft to hold the washer in place) that had not been part of my original rinse aid tank. PartSelect was very good about refunding me for the incorrectly identified rinse aid tank and stated that they would contact GE about correcting this error on their website as well. I therefore cleaned up my original rinse aid tank, rinsing out all Jet-Dry residue inside it, and put it back into the inner door panel. I researched this part and found that GE has redesigned it twice since my dishwasher was manufactured in 1985 -- my original part is no longer available anywhere. So, I will just not use Jet-Dry and will maybe upgrade to a dishwasher powder that includes rinse agent (e.g., Cascade Complete). Replacing the gasket and tub baffles and cleaning up my original rinse aid tank stopped the leak for less than the cost of a repairman's service call and diagnosis fees -- it would have cost me 3X more if he had provided the parts and done the repairs! Replacing my dishwasher was out of the question as they do not make them like they used to (i.e., no microchips or motherboards to fail in a few years) -- this is the first problem I've had with my dishwasher in 27 years! As a side note, I also learned from my research that my front door panel insert is reversible. I was able to remove a side trim piece, slide out the panel, and turn it over so the color is now white rather than the outdated almond. It's like I have a brand new dishwasher that is ready to go for another 27 years.
Pull the old Door Gasket out. Then figure out, how the new one should fit in the door. Push the new one softly in, and the repair was perfect done.

Leaking out the right corner of dishwasher
Door seal was brittle and flat. Not a hard job to do just having to keep making sure the seal did not pop out on the bottom corners of the door. The seal would tare easy so have to be careful. Before you remove the old seal on the bottom of door there is a 4 inch space between the ends of the seal. Mark the spot with marker so you kn
... Read moreow where to start placing the new seal. Baffles were orginaly put in place with plummer putty, do not use this. Get GE clear seal is the best will hold forever but will come loose with a good tug. easy to clean out when replacing baffles again. Do not use any sealent when inserting the door seal just push into opening. Make sure you support the door when pushing down on door to put the seal in the slots. The hardest part is the bottom corners the seal tends to slip out I found that if I streached the seal over the openings and continued on and come back to the corners it was easier to make the seal slip in.

The dishwasher is leaking from what appears to be at the bottom of the door. When i look at the door seal there is about a 5" gap between the seal at the middle of the door - the seal does not go across the entire bottom of the door. Is that normal? When i remove the kick plate below the door the foam strip is wet and i see no other sign of leakage. So my question is "is the door seal suppose to be continuous along the bottom of the door?"
For model number GSD650X-68BA
Hello Richard, Thank you for your inquiry. The door gasket WD8X229 will go around the top and sides of the door and end at the sides at towards the bottom. It does not install on the bottom of the door. The bottom of the door completes the rest of the seal needed to keep water in. Hope this helps!

Hi: My dishwasher is leaking at the bottom of the door. Is it most likely due to the condition of the corner baffles or the gasket?
For model number GSD500L-02AW
Hello Rik, thank you for your question. We would recommend replacing the baffles and the gaskets together. Replacing the three items at the same time is recommended by the manufacturer. The part numbers are Corner Tub Baffle - Lower Right Part Number: WD8X227, Corner Tub Baffle - Lower Left Part Number: WD8X228, Door Gasket Part Number: WD8X229. I hope this helps!

Gasket does not seal all the way across bottom of door.
Is that normal? Do I need anything else to seal door?
For model number Gsm220v00bb
Hello Joseph, thank you for contacting us. The door gasket, part number PS958908, seals the gap between the opening to the dishwasher tub and the outer edge of the door. However, it requires a bottom insert, part number PS258653, for complete sealing. It attaches at the bottom of the door seal to hold the gasket in place. We would recommend replacing both parts together. If you need help placing an order for it, please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!
