This sump inlet is attached to the tub bottom and collects water for the pump in the dishwasher. The inlet works with the pump and filtration system to receive drainage for it be disposed. When I first took the machine apart, I went to the usual culprit (for water leaking out from underneath), a jammed pump. Removed the unit from under counter and placed it with the door side down. Removed clamps/bands from the outlets on the sump and removed screws that attached sump to dishwasher tub. water leaking from sump
I had a slow leak from vicinity of sump. I replaced sump and pump connector as these were only likely sources of leak based on parts select history. Turns out plastic tub had a fine crack. The crack was directly under the heating element which had melted the plastic and over time created this small crack that was found by a repair guy

... Read moreelop a small crack from the inside. I decided to replace it as well. The job involves removing the hose clamps and removing the spray mechanizm from the interior of the dishwasher to spin out the inlet sump. Not a difficult job.
The connector pump had a pinhole leak at the seam (new part did not have seams). Also replaced the sump inlet which looked worn and the impeller.
Lay dishwasher on it's back to access the bottom. Loosen all clamps. Remove both U shaped holders on the sump inlet. Remove screws holding the drain motor. Pull out the pump motor and

Replace parts and reassemble. It isn't that bad once you start disassembly, especially for anyone somewhat handy.
The cat brought in a rat which ate holes in the sump inlet.
First, I took off all the pipe clamps and retaining brackets. Then, I pried it out of there. One of the tabs holding one of the other bits to the body got busted, but it didn't matter, as it is held on very well just by the pipe clamp connection. To prevent the problem recurring, I spray painted over the sump inlet to make it taste worse. This is the downside of a cat door.

The rubber inlet sump on my dishwasher has a hole in it. Can i patch it like a bike tire? Is it easy for me to replace?

The middle and upper spray arms do not seem to rotate while washing. When I open the door there is water dripping from them but the items in the upper rack do not get cleaned. Is there a diverter valve or other device that controls these two arms getting water or could it be a blockage?

Thanks for your question. This may be due to a clog with the sump filter, part number PS2370522. Have a look at it and see if it is damaged or clogged, and replace it if needed.

I need p/n PS259528, OEM # WD18X10008 Inlet Sump. I bought one from a local repair shop and it had the correct OEM # on the bag but the part is missing the inlet ( port ) that the turbidity sensor plugs into. I tried cutting and gluing but it didn't work. Can you advise stock and if this comes with port for the sensor. Thanks Peter Robinson
