Did not have water flowing into dishwasher
I removed the old valve with wrench and Philips screw driver.Unscrewed the mounting plate and water hose. When I went to replace the new water inlet valve, I found that there was a mismatch on the screw holes for the new mounting plate. Different screw threads. I tried to find screws that would fit, but didn't have any.So I manged to make the old screws re-thread themselves and hold the plate in place. I then attached the water hose and started the dishwasher up. Make sure to power off the unit then power it back on to clear and reset the programming. Works great now.

Water inlet valve was leaking due to crack
After removing the front panels, I removed two screws holding the valve in place. I turned off the water supply and removed the water line, unclipped the hose clamps and took the faulty valve out. I then reversed the above steps and turned the water back on. NO leak. Very easy to do andthe repair took ~20 minutes to complete.

Dishwasher was not filling with water or cycling.
In order to access the fill valve, dishwasher had to be removed from under countertop. Disconnected water supply line and drain hose under sink. Unplugged unit and removed 2 screws holding unit to countertop. I was then able to pull unit out and replace valve. After reinstallation, the same problem existed. Further research pointed to the control module, approx. $100.00 or the motor, approx. $250.00 - $300.00. I than began looking at new dishwashers, but I did email GE with the problem. They suggested I use citric acid or vinegar in hot water, pour into right rear portion of tub and wait 1/2 hour. After doing that, the dishwasher worked perfectly.

Water Inlet Valve was leaking on dishwasher.
I replaced the entire Water Inlet Valve. The part was perfect and fixed the problem. The only difficulty was the brass elbow connection that connects to the incoming water line had plumbing putting that connected it to the old Water Inlet Valve. I had to get a couple of large adjustable wrenches to take it off. I needed it as I didn't want to buy another one. I was thankful that I had some extra plumbing putty on hand to seal the threads when I put the brass elbow back on the new Water Inlet Valve. That saved me a trip to the hardware story. All in all, I'm very pleased that I was able to fix this myself. I'm not exactly a Mr. Fixit, so this was a good experience.

I have a the GE dishwasher model# gsd3400g00ww (serial# md848018b). It is 15 years old. It is not filling up with water all the way. I think my inlet water valve is clogged up. To keep from replacing it at this time: 1) can i, and is there, any type of solution that i can run through this valve to clean it out without having to remove the valve from the washer? 2) if the valve has to be removed to clean it out, what is the best solution that i can make or buy to do the job easily? 3) what is it that usually clogs up this valve and or stops it from working? I am trying to not have to buy a new $55.00 valve. Please respond as soon as possible. Thank you very much.

Hi Linda, Thank you for your inquiry. If your washer is not filling up with water, there are a few parts that you may have to look at. The water inlet valve is one of them, but you may also have to look at the drain solenoid kit, the motor and pump kit, the float switch and the sump housing. In regards to the water inlet valve, there really is no solution that you can use to clean it, however, there are screens on the valve where the hoses connect to where sediment and water particles build up. You may want to remove the hoses from the valve to clean them to see if this will fix the issue. I hope this helps with the repair. Thank you and have a great day!

My Hotpoint dishwasher fills with water, but the drain activates immediately and drains all water so the is no water during any cycles. I've read it could be a bad timer, but i can't find a timer part listed. Would this part fix the problem?
For model number hda2000g00ww

Hello Jeff, thank you for your question. There are a few parts we would recommend testing. You should test the float switch PartSelect Number: PS260235 and the drain solenoid Part Number: PS260117. If those parts are tested and are functioning correctly the issue could be the timer PartSelect Number: PS260202. I hope this helps.

Hi Dean, Thank you for your question. The issue is likely the water inlet valve. The screens on the valve are either clogged with debris and they need to be cleaned or a component in the water inlet valve has failed and it will need to be replaced. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I believe the inlet valve is a problem. When the water is on and electric is off, the water continues to fill and overflow the sump. Would there be material causing the valve to not close in the water line to cause this or does there need to be electric power to this valve to be in the off condition.

Hello Adrian, thank you for writing. Power would have to be supplied for it to work correctly. It sounds as though the Water Inlet Valve is faulty. This part number PS259368 is the correct replacement for your model. You may also want to consider replacing the Flood Switch part number PS958959 for your model to fix this. I hope this helps and good luck with your repair!
