Works great. Watch wiring change
The part was the right one and arrived fast. The video tutorial made it easy. But the wire connection pattern was changed, so look carefully at the markings. Fortunately, the connectors are slightly different in width between some of them, so that warns to look carefully at the connector labels.

Easy Repair with Parts Select helpful video!!
So this part on my stovetop had been broken for almost 2 years!! I actually ordered this same part from Kenmore over a year ago BUT because of the wiring retrofit that Kenmore was too incompetent to relay to me...I sent the part back. Then I searched thinking I had ordered the wrong part but kept coming up with that same replacement part number. Now...you would think that when I called Kenmore to get an RA# to return that first part that they would have told me OH by the way....there is a retrofit for this part!!...ESPECIALLY since I told them 3 times that the connectors did not match up. If they actually had any knowledge, (one should be able to assume they do but apparently NOT!) that would have been the prime opportunity to pass that information on to me but NO. I won't go into all the details but I will say that Kenmore parts people may be some of the dumbest customer service reps on the planet! When I ordered from you guys not only did the rep tell me on the phone but they also included a youtube video complete with text explaining the retrofit!! You guys ROCK!! I finally got around to installing it yesterday and it works perfectly...THANK YOU PARTSELECT!!!

A little confusing.
We didn't realize that two of the wire connections changed places from where they were on our old part. I thought at first we had been sent the wrong part and was looking for a part where the wire connections looked the same. I stumbled across a comment that addressed this issue, and I was able to get the part installed. It has been working great.

can't trust you
Your website said you had the part in stock and would be shipped within a day or two. Turns out it wasn't in stock and you shipped a month later. Phone representative was unsympathetic and not helpful during my inquiries. When finally received, you left out a key instruction regarding a wiring connection change for the new part. Sorry, can't trust you in the future.

Perfect Fit
The Dual Radiant Surface Element was a perfect fit for my stove. I was a bit confused by the symptoms described in the diagnosis page which describes the trouble shooting to decide if the problem was the element or the switch. The light was on, but it wasn't clear whether that meant to replace the switch or the element. After reviewing the schematic I decided that the element was bad and indeed it was. I was able to replace the element without help, but if you have the option an extra set of hand would be helpful.

Element burned out
The original instructions were to replace burner and plug wires back in the same plug they came from. The problem is that the plug order had changed between parts. The part I ordered has 5 connections and the part to be replaced has 7 connections. I had to ask a friend who is expert in electrical wiring to help.
My friend used a tester to determine where each wire was supposed to connect to. I'm not sure what he did with the extra connections. Bottom line is this part should work but you need an expert to do it for you because it's, like I said, not exactly like the one to be replaced.

I need part#316418401, it has been replaced by part # 316555800. I am told it is nearly the same except the wiring on the plug end of the new replacement burner does not exactly match the plug on the previous one. How do I ensure the wiring is connected properly (safely and effectively). Thanks.
For model number FEFL63FSB
Hi Mike,
Thank you for the question. If you look closely at the ceramic block and look for the connection labels 1a, 2b etc.The location of the 1b and 2a connection locations have been reversed. The labeling of the connection is on the ceramic block next to the male connector spades but are hard to see and can be easily missed.
Hope this helps!

Expandable element heats, but heat cannot be controlled. It gets red hot, but can't be turned down. Does the entire element have to be replaced?
For model number ples389aca
Hello Bernice, thank you for inquiring. This is most likely due to a faulty Switch for the Dual Element. The replacement Dual Infinite Switch for your model range is part number PS444541. Here is a link to some information on our website for testing the Dual Infinite Switch. https://www.partselect.com/Range-Stove-Oven+Infinite-Switch-Testing+repair.htm. Good luck with your repair!

Right front dual burner does not power off when knob turned to off. What part do i need please?
For model number CPLEF398CCB
Hi Carlos,
Thank you for your question. If the burner does not turn off when you turn it off, the the burner may have shorted. If the electrical connections have fused together, you will need to replace the element. If the burner is not turning off the burner switch may also be the issue. Before inspecting these parts, unplug the oven from the electrical outlet. For the element, check for signs of bubbling, burning, wear, holes, or damage. If none of these signs are present, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. Touch each of the terminals one at a time with one probe while holding the other probe to the outside surface of the element. If either terminal shows continuity, it is defective. To test the entire element for continuity, place each of the probes on the terminals, one on each. The exact reading you should receive varies between models, refer to your owner’s manual to determine what yours should be, but if any element has a reading outside of 19 to 115 ohms, it is defective. If you do not receive the correct readings from the tests above or find damage on your element, you will need a replacement surface burner element. Inspect the switch also for signs of of burning, or overheated wires and terminals. If no issues are found, remove the switch in order to test it for continuity. Using a multimeter on Rx1 mode, test for continuity by touching the L1 and H1 terminals with the probes. Once you have completed that test, touch the probes to the L2 & H2 terminals. If your test results indicate that there is no continuity between one or both sets of terminals, you need a replacement infinite switch. We hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let us know.

The inner burner of the dual burner does not heat, is it the switch or the heating element failure. How do i trouble shoot, thanks
For model number FEFL79DS frigidaire
Hello Hon, thank you for your question. The most likely issue is the switch itself. This link will take you to information on testing the switch itself. You would need an ohm meter to test this switch. I hope this helps!

I may not have been too clear on the element that is not working. Only the large right front element is not working, either the small or large "burner". The switch and potentiometer does not operate the element. Hopefully this will clarify the problem. Only the front right is not operable
Hi Dick,
Thank you for your question. If the large front right burner is not working, the parts that you will need to check are the burner switch that you use to turn the burner on with and the element itself. You will need to use a multimeter to test the parts. For the burner switch, set the multimeter on Rx1 mode, test for continuity by touching the L1 and H1 terminals with the probes. Once you have completed that test, touch the probes to the L2 & H2 terminals. If your test results indicate that there is no continuity between one or both sets of terminals, you need a replacement infinite switch. To test for a shorted element, touch each of the terminals one at a time with one probe while holding the other probe to the outside surface of the element. If either terminal show continuity, it is defective.
I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
