I removed the agitator cap and the underneath piece looks like stripped metal. It is corroded and I cannot really see the screws in place. I am not sure how to remove it or if it is a part that can be replaced. Can you help?

Hello Jodi,
Thanks for your question. You may be able to use a brush to remove the debris covering the screws. Use penetrating oil on the screws to help loosen them. Take the nut off by using a spanner wrench or a plastic hammer. With the nut free, take it off by hand. Cover the holes in the tub temporarily and use a screwdriver to remove the screws. Do not use a power tool as you do not want to damage the tub. As you remove the last two screws, keep the tub secure to prevent it from falling. Penetrating oil can then help with removing the drive block.

Will this new hub eliminate side play between the shaft and basket?

My washer is making a lot of noise. Sounds like a Jet is in my house. It seems this can be a bearing issue but the outer basket has been discontinued. What are my next options. Can I purchase the bearing independently if that’s the issue?
