Icemaker worked except for warming coil which prevented ice from releasing into tray
Replacement ice maker was plug in unit, only needed to remove one screw holding plastic plate that hid plug and wiring. Plugged it in and reattached plate with screw and done!

Ice Maker stopped workiing
Hardest part of repair was getting frig. away from cabinets to unplug it.
Turn off water to ice maker.
Phillips's screwdriver to take off the cover of the electrical connection to
the icemaker tip it outward. I used flat head screwdriver to help disconnect the connection.
Also, to help getting the old icemaker removed. Once removed returned New one the reverse of taking it out. Won't need screwdriver to get it back in place. Put cover back in place and put the Phillips screw back in place. Plug refrig. back in. put it back in place turn the water back on should be good to go! BE afew hrs. before ice starts to show up!
Good Luck

Ice tray was one solid ice cube
Leaking icemaker assembly was causing all of the ice cubes in the ice tray to freeze together. Remove ice tray, remove one Philips screw, pull the cover off, unplug the wires, remove the icemaker assembly by pushing tab and pulling the assembly at the same time. Replaced the water filter as well.

Trying to remove ice maker but don't know where the screw is to take out
For model number Pfss6pkxess

Hi Wayne, Thank you for the question. To remove the icemaker will will first need to remove the Ice bucket. Next remove the Phillips-head screw that attaches the wire harness cover. Then with a small flat blade screwdriver, pry the front of the cover out, and pull the cover towards the front of the appliance. Take pictures or take note of how the wire harness plugs in and then disconnect the harness. Next push in the release tab on the front of the icemaker and pull the icemaker out. Hope this helps!

I am trying to figure out why my ice maker won't work. On your website, it says to add water to check if maker is working. How do i do that? If that doesn't work, how do i get an authorized repairman to come fix it?
For model number PFSS6PKXDSS
PartSelect logo
Hi Jody, Thank you for your inquiry. Before doing this unplug the refrigerator. If the icemaker mold is empty you can pour about 4 oz. of water in the icemaker mold. Wait about 2 hours. If the icemaker produces ice cubes, you know the icemaker itself is working. If you get no ice cubes, you will need to replace the ice maker. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

How do you put water in the ice maker to test it. Dispensing water but not making ice.
For model number gfss6kkyess
PartSelect logo
Hello Felton, thank you for your question. I don't believe you can pour water into this unit to test it. To test this icemaker push the test button on the side for 15 seconds. When you push the test button for 15 seconds the icemaker should enter a cycle. If the icemaker does not cycle then the issue will be a bad icemaker. I hope this helps!

My ice maker dose not make ice. I keep getting a lock message on the display. Sometimes i can unlock the thing and sometimes it won't respond and unlock it. When unlocked the display says ice off. I also then hear chimes every so often. I can dispense water when unlocked but not when locked. I changed the filter and i do get water when unlocked. When the display says locked i can't make the other buttons do anything either. Do i have a bad ice maker unit or do i have something else wrong with my refrigerator. When unlocked the display shows "ice off" and it keeps blinking and then soon after locks again. The refrigerator and freezer otherwise works just fine. I'll buy a new ice maker if needed but don't want to buy it if there is something else wrong. There is no GE factory service in my area and locals have no clue when calling them in the past. Is there any way i can isolate what part of my refrigerator is bad?

No water at the door, ice build up under meat tray and ice maker not making ice
For model number GFSS6KKYESS
PartSelect logo
Hello DG, Thank you for the question. I suggest checking to see if the water lines are clear and not frozen or damaged. Sounds like there is a leak and water is not getting to the dispenser or ice maker. Hope this helps!

Ice maker leaks water into ice bucket, resulting in a block of ice. How do i control water flow?
For model number PFSF6PKXDWW
PartSelect logo
Hello Rick, thank you for your question. If the water is continually flowing into the icemaker and overflowing, you will want to test or replace the water valve in the appliance. If the unit is filling, and then leaking from the icemaker, the icemaker itself will have to be replaced. I hope this helps!
