My ice maker has stopped making ice but the water feature still works. I have seen on videos there is a reset button but I can't feel it. Also there is a loud fan noise and frost in my freezer. What should I do. Thanks earl

Earl for model number gfss6kkyess

Hi Earl, Thank you for the question. I do not see your model comes with a reset button. You can test the ice maker by filling it with a few glasses of water. If it starts up and makes ice as normal then the ice maker may not be getting water and you will need to replace the water inlet valve. If the ice maker is still not making ice then you might have a defective ice maker. You can test the ice maker and the valve with a Multi Meter to see what is defective. You can also check to see if the water filter needs to be replaced. These are good for 6 months and then they need to be changed. If the appliance is not defrosting you will need to make sure the Defrost Heater is operating by testing with the meter as well. Hope this helps!

I am trying to figure out why my ice maker won't work. On your website, it says to add water to check if maker is working. How do i do that? If that doesn't work, how do i get an authorized repairman to come fix it?

Jody for model number PFSS6PKXDSS

Hi Jody, Thank you for your inquiry. Before doing this unplug the refrigerator. If the icemaker mold is empty you can pour about 4 oz. of water in the icemaker mold. Wait about 2 hours. If the icemaker produces ice cubes, you know the icemaker itself is working. If you get no ice cubes, you will need to replace the ice maker. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Ice tray was one solid ice cube

Leaking icemaker assembly was causing all of the ice cubes in the ice tray to freeze together. Remove ice tray, remove one Philips screw, pull the cover off, unplug the wires, remove the icemaker assembly by pushing tab and pulling the assembly at the same time. Replaced the water filter as well.
