This bake element is used in ranges and located at the bottom of the oven. The bake element supplies heat for baking. If your symptoms include: your oven is not heating evenly, not starting, or the heating is not consistent, then replacing the element can be the solution. Remove two retaining screws, make sure to disconnect the two connecters at each end of the element, and replace with the new one. Before starting this replacement, make sure the range is unplugged from the power source or shut off from the house circuit breaker. The tool needed is a Phillips screwdriver.

Could the elements be the problem if the oven doesn't heat up enough? My oven reads 350 but temperature reads 220.
For model number JRS04BW1BB
Hello Jeanne, Thank you for the question. I Suggest testing the Oven Sensor, PartSelect Number PS236043. Testing the temperature sensor probe on your oven is easy. With the sensor at room temperature, measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. The resistance of the sensor should read approximately 1080 – 1090 ohms at room temperature. Thank you for your inquiry, good luck with this repair!
What are the dimensions of this part and does it have smallish slide on connectors to the stove - part wb44k5013

Oven bake element blew out
Shut off the power from the fuse box. Removed p the two screws and plate that attach the element to the wires and back of oven. Installed the replacement element by attaching the wires and reinserting the two screws. Restored power and tested the new element by preheating the oven at 350 degrees and letting it heat for 15 minutes. Works like a charm!

Bake element burned out
My husband (a retired tool & die maker) easily removed the old bake element after first turning off the circuit. He cleaned up the burned salt that we had used to try to put the "fire" out but finally just shut down the circuit. Then just as easily istalled the new element. Thanks to your quick service, we were only without the use of the oven for a day and a half!

Replaced bake element
Needed to drill two new holes for fastening the element to the oven wall. Change in design. Enlarged the holes in the spade connections since I was unable to find smaller bolts than 4-40. I would suggest to make the holes in the spade connections larger. The change out was not a problem.

Broken baking (not broiling) element
I shut off the power at the circuit breaker. I loosened the screws securing the baking element to the back wall. I then pulled out the baking element toward me and found the wire leads bolted using self-tapping screws to the original element. Since the holes on the mounting tabs did not take the old screws, I had to drill out the holes on the tabs of the replacement element. After securely bolting the leads to either terminal on the element, I had to drill two holes on the back wall for the mounting plate of the new element. Then I used the cordless drill with the Philips bit to drive in stainless steel self-tapping screws (not zip screws) to secure the element to the back wall. I turned on the power at the circuit breaker and reset the clock (mechanical).

The bake elemement burned out & the clips for the top element were broken
The bake element basically just plugs in remove the two screws in the back with a nut driver pull the element out unplug the spade connectors and reconnect the new element . As far as the clips just snap them on to the top element and snap back in the holes at the top of the oven. Also very fast delivery less then 48 hours from ordering to delivery
Turned off power. Removed two screws. Took out old element. Used pliers to remove connectors. Installed new element. Set screws. Turned on power. Works.

Short circuited/burned out upper bake element
This is a simple repair of the PS249249 UPPER BAKE ELEMENT requiring only a 1/4 in nut driver or socket wrench.
1. unplug the old element after removing the two screws holding the element in place. 2. Insert the new element in the electrical receptacle and reinsert the screws to secure the new element.
Make sure not to remove any insulation.

Exact replacement
The part arrived in a damaged carton which had obviously been opened and then resealed with tape. However, the part itself did not appear to be damaged.
I have replaced oven heating elements before and this one went quickly and smoothly. The part was an exact fit and has worked perfectly since installation.
