Product Description

Light Bulb - 40W 130V Specifications

This light bulb is a 40 watt, 130-volt clear appliance light bulb that is manufactured to fit microwaves with small-base light bulb sockets. The light bulb illuminates the inside of the microwave while the microwave is running. You may need to replace this part if the existing one is burnt-out or broken. If the existing light bulb is broken, disconnect power to the microwave and remove the bulb base with a pair of needle nose pliers. This is a common wear item, so it is recommended to order a spare. These light bulbs are sold individually.

Glass lens and two light bulbs replacements
My microwave is built in above the stove which provides lighting and fans for my stove. The glass lens cover for the lighting was cracked in several places and the light bulbs had burned out. I taped the glass lens for removal so it didn't break apart due to the cracks Removed the one screw. .Both light bulbs broke away from the base sockets as I tried to unscrew them. I used electrical tape wrapping in reverse on a lightbulb (socket end) so it was sticky for a grip on the base, shoved it in the sockets and was unable to unscrew the broke off bases. So it was very successful and no repair man was needed.

Under the microwave there are two light bulbs that light up the top of the oven/range.
Last week I removed the glass cover that was held in by one screw and removed the burnt out light bulb. I ordered the bulb and left the glass cover off until the bulb arrived. I had to wait until this evening to put the glass cover back on and fasten the screw because I have a window right next to the oven and the sun streaming in made it too difficult for me to see how to put the glass back in and replace the screw.

bulb burned out light that is under the microwave, which lights the oven below.
thank you for the video--very clear, responsible, applicable although the illustration was not exactly of our kind of light. the bulb was exactly like the one Hotpoint used in its microwave made in 1989! I will come back to you for parts in the future. (You have the model # from my original order.)

Surface light bulbs burnt out and heat welded to sockets
Since the job required replacing both the bulbs and sockets the unit was dropped from the wall. Used a towel and plywood to protect the range under the unit. Then these steps: Unplugged the power cable and placed a support board under the unit while removing three bolts from overhead cabinet. Next, removed support board and with a helper rotated the unit down and lifted it out of the rear wall mounting panel. Then turned the unit upside down, removed the bottom plate and unplugged the feed wires and two wires to each of the sockets. Next the single screws holding the sockets were removed and the sockets extracted from the mounting shells and new units were installed. When remounting the unit it was necessary to start all three bolts from the upper cabinet just a few turns and then tighten the center bolt completely first.

BURNED OUT (and broken) LIGHT BULB
With many thanks to those who posted their experience and advice replacing the bulb, I was able to remove 5 of the 6 screws holding the underside panel and remove the socket which contained the broken off base of the bulb and extract it with needle-nose pliers. I had broken off the glass portion of the bulb trying to unscrew it due to the awkward contortion of my wrist-hand-fingers trying to grip the bulb inside the tight recess the bulb is mounted in. After concluding that I needed more information, I did a web search for 'Hotpoint RVM1435' and found helpful advice at partselect.com telling me to drop the bottom panel. Good call! Thanks everyone!

This particular microwave has 2 bulbs on the underneath side. One on the left and one on the right underneath side. The setting on the microwave says,: Bright-night-off. So, my question is, are these bulbs dual elements. We just bought this house and have tried these bottom lights and they only seem to have a dim setting and now one is completely burnt out. I want to replace these bulbs with the correct bulbs...what do i need to get?

I received your answer and looked it over carefully, if you're suggesting in order to remove the bottom of this microwave i would have to remove it from the wall where it is mounted above my stove it doesn't speak well of your product or the people with engineered, it should be obvious that the light bulbs would require changing and what you describe is no simple operation. Furthermore i would need a parts blowup showing just how the bottom is mounted.

Need replacement bulbs WB36X10003. We ordered from another vendor ...they sent GE size T8 base E17 bulbs, which allegedly are the same, but they are too long to fit our microwave. Are your replacement bulbs the same as this, or are they the correct size? Thank you!

Want to replace microwave cooktop light bulb. Manual says to use 40 watt 120 volt bulb with GE part number WB36X1003. Part number online always refers to 130 volt. Has voltage changed? Is it safe to use 130 instead of 120? Thanks.
For model number WB36X10003
PartSelect logo
Hello Jo, thank you for asking. 120V and 130V bulbs are interchangeable and the pros in using a 130 Volt bulb are: cooler burning bulb, less energy use, longer life and better handling of voltage surges. The cons are lower lumens output (not as bright) and lower color temperature. We are pleased to have been able to help.
