Charcoal Filter Specifications
This is a charcoal filter but you may know it as the vent hood filter. It is designed to work in multiple appliances. The purpose of the vent hood filter is to collect the grease particles and other tiny debris from the air while cooking. Take note that this part is sold individually. This charcoal filter is almost 12 inches long, and just over 6 inches wide. For safety purposes when making this repair, we recommend disconnecting the power to your appliance before changing the filter.

Is this the filter that goes in the top of the unvented over the range microwave. Not underneath but in the top?
For model number JNM1541SN1SS

Hi Rosemary, Thank you for the question.Yes, This is the filter that goes at the top behind the vent grill. Good luck with the repair!

Charcoal filter: Put in model # JVM1650BH01 for GE SpaceMakerXL microwave. I was all set to purchase the charcoal filter that came up, but at the bottom of the information, some Kenmore microwaves were listed and some GE tabletops, but not any GE SpaceMakerXL. I don't want to purchase the incorrect charcoal filter. Please clarify. Thank you.

When use vent fan it seems to blow cooking odors and exhaust into the whole house rather than eliminate them. Have a charcoal filter now and doesn't seem to help. Will this part do a better job, or is it time to replace microwave
For model number jvm1740dm1ww

Hello Lee, thank you for inquiring. You will want to replace the Charcoal Filter part PS243779, the Hood Damper Assembly part PS651224, or the Grease Filter part PS952418. We hope this helps.

turne table ot moving. Filter never changed
I had no idea what to expect. I was tired to see this turn table not moving. I removed the 7 screws at the bottom of the microwave that I thought was hiding the turn table mechanism. Bingo! I removed the 2 screws holding the motor and check if the power was coming to the motor and it was. The motor was cooked.
I decided to change the filter since I was working on this. When I received it, and proceeded to change it, I found out that there was no filter. Finding the right position was a bit tricky. The most difficult part was to remove the front vent grille.
Don’t be shy, try it! Make sure, to disconnect the power when changing the filter.

Original filter needed replacement, bulb socket was damaged, lens was broken.
Removed the 7 screws holding the bottom of the microwave cover, also opened the access covers to the lights. Damaged socket was easily replaced along with both bulbs and the broken lens, then resecured the covers. Top front cover was removed (2 screws) and the new filter was inserted, then the cover replaced. Very easy, about 15 minutes, without any injuries!

Grill for exhaust was broken.
Ordered a replacement grill, replaced the optional charcoal filter at the same time. Took just a little effort to get the alignment tabs in place--required just a little more elbow grease than you'd think, then replaced the two screws.

Broken turntable motor
This repair was one of the easiest I've ever done. I turned off the power to the microwave at the breaker, lowered the bottom panel by removing the screws, disconnected the wires to the old motor, pulled it out by removing two screws attaching it, attached the new motor with the same screws, connected the wires to it and that was all. The turnable has worked perfectly (and quietly) since.

No brainer to install.
Seems good as a replacement part. OEM no longer available. If this part hadn’t been available, I would have had to junk the oven hood.

Easy repair/part WAY to expensive
I thought the $70.00 was a multi pack of filters. Don't waste your money here.

Unnecessary Part
My microwave did not call for the part I purchased so I have returned it. It took approximately ten days to arrive, and I was told it would take up to 30 days for my refund. The part was delivered in perfect shape.

Hello Joan, Thank you for the review. Sorry top hear the part was not needed. I wanted to let you know the refund does not take 30 days once we receive it back. 30 day return means you have 30 days to return it for a refund. Sorry for the confusion.

FAST, EASY AND EFFICIENT!
The charcoal filter I ordered, arrived right on time and in great condition. There were printed instructions in the box with it, showing me how to properly install the new one. Very simple - done in a matter of a minute or so. Had ordered one from Partselect about a year ago and wa totally satisfied with both orders. Will continue to order and replace the filter annually as suggested in the manual. Thanks for the great service. F. Debes, Fallston, MD
