Noise and no Heat on Microwave oven.
First, I waste $65 by calling some "REPAIR" service. They showed at home and charge me that just to tell me
Second, I researched on the web and ordered a part, which was not the issue. I waste abnother $72
Third, I found Part-Select and got the right answer: the Diode was the problem. Ordered the part form Part-Select and it FIxed it !!!

Note: I did not buy a new microwave because this one is mounted on the wall and it will cost me +$800 just the lowest price.

blowing 15 amp fuse when hitting power button
Looked at schematic to see which parts became active when the power button was pushed. From there used meter to determine diode was open and capacitor was shorted. Biggest trouble was dis-assembly/assembly required to get to electrical parts.

Tried the fuse first, the microwave still runs but will not heat. I am getting an electrical smell and a little crackling. Could that be the magnetron or the diode?
For model number JVM1870SF02

Hello Doug, Thanks for your question. Based on your description, the magnetron is the more likely cause of your issue. Remember, the microwave can still contain a large amount of electricity even when unplugged, so be sure to have a licensed technician install the part. I hope this helps.

Hi Jim, Thank you for your inquiry. If the circuit breaker was tripped the fuse might have blown in the microwave and you will need to replace it. The part number for the fuse is PS239596. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

My JVM1440WH04 (manufactured 200509) GE Spacemaker Microwave Oven just stopped. Fuse not blown but reset, to no effect. On same circuit separate stove works. I'm thinking high-voltage Diode and/or Capacitor - 2100V need replacement? What do you think? Thanks!
For model number JVM1440WH04

Hello John, thank you for your inquiry. Based on the description that you have provided, the issue is most probably with the high-voltage capacitor, part number PS239368. It is an electronic device that holds a charge of electricity in the high-voltage circuit of the microwave. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. Glad to be of assistance!

I'm not sure if this part will fix the problem. The microwave control panel functions normally but no heat is generated.
For model number JVM1870BF02

Hi Tom, Thank you for your question. There are a few parts that you could check for this issue. Please be advised, you must unplug the appliance from power and safely discharge the capacitor before attempting any repair as the capacitor can electrocute you if not properly discharged. You would be able to test these parts with a multi meter, remove them from the appliance before testing. First you should take a look at your fuse being the issue. It should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. You should also check your diode. You will also want to test all of your door switches to make sure that they are working. They should also be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. If those parts are fine then the issue might either be in your capacitor or your magnetron itself. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

I have a convection microwave, microwave does not produce any heat in microwave mode however, convection mode does so this rules out any switches. This leaves the magnetron, diode or magnetron thermostat correct?
For model number CVM517P3M2d1
PartSelect logo
Hello Steven, Thank you for the question. This could be caused by a defective Magnetron. The magnetron can be tested with an multi meter set on the highest scale. Across the terminals, you should read 0 ohms (or .5 ohms). Test both terminals to ground with one lead and make sure it is not shorted. We hope this helps!

no heat and loud noise. suspect it is the diode, since all 3 door switches work. I also tested the fuse and it is fine. to access the high voltage diode will I need to remove from the wall and take shell off?
For model number pvm9179sk4ss

Hi Matthew, thank you for the question. Based on the description that you have provided, we would recommend checking the high voltage diode, part number PS239843, as it is most likely faulty and may need to be replaced. Also, you may need to remove the microwave from the wall and take the shell off to remove this part. We hope this is what you were looking for!
