This is a door striker, it is gray in color and is a part found on your washer. The purpose of the striker is to keep your washer door closed for usage. This piece will attach to your appliance lid and will activate the door switch when your lid is closed. The most common reasons for needing to replace this part are if your lid will not consistently open or close, and your washer will not consistently start. The only tool you will need to complete this installation is a Phillips screwdriver.

Door latch and door hinge broken
Your website made it very simple to identify the parts, and offered either a video or installation instructions. Couldn't have been easier. $550 was the quote I got to repair the washer, the parts with overnight shipping were $147 and my 30 minutes of time.
Unscrewed the old striker and screwed in the new one.

Door Striker broke which was a result of the hinge problem.
Removed the screws holding the door. (One was stuck a little so used an air drill with Phillips head to get the torque needed but someone with a strong grip could have done it as it came out very easily). I removed most of the screws holding the front to back of door to exchange the hinge. There was a problem with the old hinge slopping
... Read more around and not allowing the door to align properly when shutting it. The new hinge works better. See note*** below on doorframe. I pretty much was able to get the door back together and make it work. I then exchanged the door striker with no problem. It has a built in key so you cannot attach it incorrectly. The next thing was to just reattach the door to the machine and it worked right off the bat. ------------- *** Unfortunately, there were two screw mounts in the Outer Door Frame - Chrome Part Number: PS3495258 that were broken. This doorframe is listed as a $200+ chrome part whereas it is actually a plastic material that is extremely over priced for what it is. Like I mentioned two of the screw mounts had broken off so those screws are just "decoration" now. (These are screws that basically hold the back cover to the front cover). If this becomes a problem, I will simply modify what I have and make the screws fit before I spend $200+ on that part. (It looks like this could be drilled out and a long screw and nut run through to make it work. TELL THE WASHER OPERATOR… just be careful opening and closing the unit (don't slam the door but carefully close it) and it should work a lot longer. I might investigate the make up of a washer the next time I buy one … but the chrome vs. plastic is a hard one to spot. I hope this helps.
first I remove two screws then hold the part in place.

Door Striker broken
The door striker of the my front loading washing machine is plastic and breaks very easy. The small store I brought it from is now closed and I can't get the part and the last time I did order the part it took a least two weeks for it to arrive and my wash pile was huge. I ordred your part and in two days I had it! Much easier than the 65
... Read more dollars charge to have the repairman walk through the door to fix it and the long wait for it to arrive.

The door to my washer closes but the machine does not recognize it as closed and keeps flashing that the door is open
For model number FAFS4272LW0
Hi Beverly,
Thank you for your question. It is likely that your door lock latch is malfunctioning. I would suggest testing that part to see if it is working or not. I have linked the part information down below for you. Good luck with your repair.
I ordered latch# 131763302 from amazon which says it is a genuine manufacturer part which is supposed to be the new number for part # 134456640 but it does not work it’s like it’s not as thick as the original one that broke please help is your part gonna work if i order it ? Would your part be the same one that i have already ordered? Thanks for your help
For model number ATF7000FSO
Hello Livia, thank you for your question. The manufacturer had discontinued the original part (part number 134456640). The substitution part, which is part number 131763302, is supposed to work with your unit and would be the same part you would receive if you ordered through us, or anyone else. However, the issue could be with the latch that this striker goes into and attaches to. You may want to replace the latch, which is part number 131763256. I hope this helps.
