Is this just the glass piece or does it include the electronics that sit below?I'm not sure if the electronics are okay anymore since my glass is entirely broken apart because a really stupid teenager jumped up on it and sat down on the stove top?? really!!!! Anyway, I'm mad that it is broken but not sure if just the glass will fix it?If I need to invest even more in the electronics I am probably better off buying a new range entirely.

Hi Nancy, Thank you for the question. This is just the main glass top with no electronics below. In most cased just the glass will need to be replaced. So unless he went right through the glass and hit the elements under the glass you should be fine. Hope this helps!

I am going to replace the glass range top because it cracked. Does this require a new seal? Also does it come with instructions or can you provide instructions to install? Thanks.

Hello Bill,
Thanks for your question. This should not require a new seal, though it is not a bad idea to examine yours to see if it is intact. To install the part, unplug the range and pull it out of its location so you can access the back of the range. Remove the control panel and rotate it forwards, then remove the screws from the left and right side trim and the back. Remove the trim pieces from around the cooktop glass. Remove the brackets from the left and right sides of the range's cooktop glass. Lift the rear of the glass off the range and slide it out from under the front control bracket, then remove it. Be careful, it can be quite heavy.

Can i replace this glass top on my own? If not i may have to leave the country as result of a failed burnt sugar recipe.

Hi Willia,
Thank you for your question. You should be able to install the cooktop by yourself. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet or turn the circuit breaker off. First open the oven door and then remove the 2 screws that hold the cooktop. Lift the cooktop up and slide it to one side in order to release it's rear hinges from the mounting brackets. Be careful as the part is heavy. Remove the hinges from the old cooktop. Secure the hinges on the new cooktop with the screws. Place the new cooktop assembly hinge into the opening on the side mounting bracket. Slide it into the opposite mounting bracket, check if it is properly installed and lower the cooktop. Secure it place with the 2 screws at the front. Close the door and restore power to the oven. Restore power to the cooktop and everything should now work for you. I hope this helps.
