Monitor Switch Specifications

This is the replacement monitor switch for your microwave. It is black in color and measures approximately 1 inch by ¾ of an inch. This switch monitors the door latch position of your microwave and communicates to the electronic control board whether the latch is open or closed. If the switch is damaged, your microwave may not start, even though the door latch is closed. You can check the continuity of the switch by using a multimeter. Be sure to disconnect the microwave from power before you begin this repair.

The microwave does shut off by the timer. But when you open the door the turntable and fan starts up. My guess the microwave is also starting though. What’s wrong? Thank you
For model number PEB1590DMIBB
Hi Waynne, Thank you for your question. If the fan and motor are turning on when you open the door, the issue is with one of the door switches and you will need to check them with a multimeter to see which one is causing the issue. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Our microwave fan comes on every time we open the door. This just started happening. Any suggestions if there could be a part we can order.
For model number JES16515J02
Hi Diane, Thank you for your inquiry. It sounds like you will need to check the door switches to see if they are causing the fan to come on. If they are not working correctly they can cause this to happen. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

This morning something really weird happened. I was finishing up using the microwave; used the "clear/off" touchpad to stop; opened the door, removed my food, closed the door- but the microwave would sound and feel as though it would continue to heat. We tried numerous times to hit "clear/off" ; open the door; re-close the door, but it continues. Any help?
For model number JVM1790SK01
Hi Andrea, Thank you for your question. It seems like you will need to check your door switches to see if they are working correctly. It could be that they are not reading that the door is closing. I hope that helps. Good luck.

I received an answer to a question I asked earlier, and thank you for that. Your answer was I need to purchase a control board. Is that part number PS1022528?
For model number SCB1001KSS01
Hello Patrick, Thanks for your question. The board you will need to fix your keypad issue is part number PS1018486. You should have a licensed technician install this part as your microwave's internal parts can contain electrical charges even when the microwave is unplugged. I hope this helps.

I enter the time to cook and the power level. I then press on and it will sometimes go to pause. This will sometimes be corrected if i jiggle the door, or open and shut the doo,r or clear and re enter. At other times, i will shut the door and the fan will go on. At other times the microwave fan will just go on. Another time i entered a time and a power level and turned it on and it started to cook; i then jiggled the door and it went to pause. I tried to jiggle the door again to get it to go back to cooking, but to no avail. I then cleared and re entered time and power level and pressed on and it started to cook. What might be going on? Thank you i have a GE profile model # pvm1790sr1ss
For model number PVM1790SR1SS
Hello Michael, thank you for inquiring! It sounds as though you may be experieincing some issues with the switches for y our microwave, which sense that the door is closed and allow the unit to properly run. We recommend testing each of them -- there are three in total! -- to see where the issue may be stemming from. Your model will have two of PartSelect Number PS236997, one on top and one on bottom, and one of PartSelect Number PS237409, which is in the middle. We hope this helps!

GE jes1460ds1bb microwave does not shut off unless door is open or unplugged and even when plugged in and door is closed it no longer heats food.
For model number GE JES1460DS1BB
Hi Chris, If your microwave continues running when you open the door, it may be a problem with the door interlock switch part PS237015. A functioning door switch provides power to other components of the microwave and should interrupt power when the door is open. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair!

The power was on but the Microwave would not start.
This is an above the range microwave, use 2 people to remove it. I set it on a table and removed the outer cabinet. I then used jumper leads to discharge the capacitor. I removed the control panel (taking a picture to ensure proper wiring on assembly), then I removed the latch board. Once I had the latch board out I removed the monitor switch (which is the middle switch) and tested it for continuity. This is a normally closed switch. I tested the other two switches as well and found these (normally open) switches for continuity to be good and the monitor switch to have a short. This switch should show continuity when the door is open and should show no resistance when the door is closed. (Take care removing the switches) After I received the parts I installed them in the new Locker Holder and installed the latch board (ensure to follow the latch board adjustment steps located in the control board). I then attached the wiring to the control board and then plugged in the unit. I tested the unit to ensure it functioned correctly. I then installed the outer cabinet, and then installed the unit above the range (Use 2 people for this process). Overall an easy fix you just need to ensure you follow safety procedures (especially when dealing with capacitors.
Take a lot of pictures of the wiring and of the components and take care with the latch board or you'll have to buy a new one when all you really needed is a monitor switch.

    Bad door switch and divide
Remove upper grill, then control panel, then 2 screws hold door switch mounting bracket, that will let you roll the switches out to work on them. Remove each switch by carefully pushing back retainer clips. Diode a long pair of needlenose pliers is helpful. The control board in front of capacitor comes out with a flat screwdriver and pry up. Removing grnd wires helps
