How do i get into the panel where the door latch switch is at? I can't even get the outside cover to come off.....or the bottom with all the screws out. my microwave is running when i open the door.
For model number JES1451DS1BB
Hello Paula, thank you for contacting us. You can remove the top panel of the microwave, then there may be just one screw to remove the control panel. Then you can remove the old switch, just disconnect the wires and pull it out, then just snap in the new switch and connect the wires. Hope this helps!

Microwave just went totally dead. No lights or anything. Thoughts?
For model number HVM1540DM1BB
Hello Tony, Thanks for your question. It would be a good idea to test part number PS237015, the primary interlock door switch, for continuity using a multi-meter. If that test is positive, the most likely cause is the thermal fuse, part number PS239525. Remember to have the microwave unplugged and to have the capacitor discharged prior to testing or replacing the thermal fuse, as the thermal fuse can store a large amount of electricity even after your microwave is unplugged. Wear an insulated glove and use a screw driver with with an insulated handle to siphon out the excess electricity of your capacitor. I hope this helps.

How do I get to the primary interlock door switch? Microwave just went dead on me.
For model number JNM1541SM4SS
Hi Joe, Thank you for the questions. In order to get to the switches you will need to remove the outside cabinet and grille vent. You will be able to see where the screw is holding the control panel in place. Once the panel is removed you can have access to the door switches. Hope this helps!

I can get the oven to power on momentarily by putting upward pressure on the closed door. Sometimes it will remain on. This is without entering commands on the control panel. Do you think that replacing the interlock switches will solve this problem?
For model number JES2051SN3SS
Hello David, thank you for your question. Yes, we would recommend replacing the switches and checking over the interlock (the part the switches are mounted into) to be sure it hasn't shifted from its position. I hope this helps!

Microwave keeps running when the cycle is done and upon opening door.
For model number JES2051SN2SS
Hello Avi, thank you for your question. For this kinds of issue, the cause is almost always a bad door switch. We would recommend replacing the door switches which are PartSelect Number: PS237015 and PartSelect Number: PS237409. There are two of the Part #: PS237015 required for this unit. I hope this helps!

How to take the old primary switch off without breaking the holder?
For model number JES1451DS1WW
Hi Bryan, Thank you for your question. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. Use a Phillips head screw driver to unthread the screws securing the grill. With the screws removed, open the microwave oven door then the slide the grill to the left and lift it up to remove. Next remove the control panel mounting screw then lift the control panel up to detach. Then remove the screw holding the inner access panel and then release the panel from the retaining clips. Now remove the screws holding the switch assembly. Depress the release tab and the actuator to detach the switch you are replacing. Disconnect the wire connector to fully release the old switch. Install the new door switch by first connecting the wire connector. Now position the new switch in the assembly snap it into place. Realign the switch assembly on the frame and secure it with the screws. Reinstall the inner access panel securing it with the screw. Now insert the control panel tabs to the slots in the frame and push the panel down. Secure it with the mounting screw. Insert the tabs of the grill into the frame and slide it to the right. Shut the oven door and then secure the grill with the screws. Plug the power cord back in and the microwave should now work. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Just started yesterday - will not power off when I close the door. The tray does not spin, but it keeps giving heat & making a slight sound. The light works & shuts off when I close the door. Any suggestions? Thanks!
For model number JE1590SH02
Hi Richard, Thank you for the question. To find the defective switch you will need a multi meter to test them. All 3 can have the same symptoms but the most common switch to go is the Primary. Good luck with the repair!

When i close the microwave door i hear a humming sound, but i was able to heat food. Please help me
For model number JES2051DN2BB (GE)
Hi Srinivasan, Thank you for your question. If you are hearing a loud humming noise from your microwave, there may be an issue with the magnetron. If it is defective, then you will hear a humming sound. Please be careful when checking or replacing the magnetron as it carries a significant electrical charge. You may have to have a technician check this part for you. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Microwave would turn on and count down, but not heating and not rotate turntable. Pressing door up would occasionally start heat.
First I disconnected the power and opened the door. Then I removed the top screws holding the top vent louvers, then removed the screw at the top of the touch pad. The touch pad removes by sliding up slightly then tilting top out. I unscrewed two screws holding the door latch assembly. Press the tab to remove and replace switch. Reconnect wires, reseat latch mount by placing top bracket tab in place first, allign and secure with screws. Reseat touch pad by placing bottom tabs in first, tilt forward and press up to seat top tabs, secure with top screw. Secure vent louver screws, plug in and watch your microwave work again.

Microwave runs with the door open
Remove microwave outer cover. Turn on side & locate the upper & lower door switches. Better to replace in pairs even if one is ok. Remove the wire harness to each switch. Then replace switch and re connect the wire harness. Re attach outer cover
and test to see if that solved the problem. If so then well done!!

Everything seemed to work with the controls, but when you pressed start the light would come on and nothing else. The turntable and heating system would not function.
I unplugged it, removed the outer shell with torque bits and a screwdriver, drained the main capacitor, and began debugging the circuit with my fluke multimeter, found the bad primary interlock, googled the part number, ordered the part, received it in 2 days, replaced the interlock in about 2 minutes, and put the cover back on. Fixed. Saved me about $200 over buying a new unit and was grateful for partselect's great service.

had to press door opener slightly to work
Removed screws holding outer shell. Pushed in door handle to identify faulty switch. Ordered part. Pryed switch out with screw driver and unplugged. reinstalled new switch. Presto. BUT... I did NOT use both hands while working on the microwave. I did not release the energy from the capacitor or whatever holds the killer amperage even when unplugged. It would be advisable to do this first. I did not because it seemed complicated, so I was EXTREMELY CAREFUL about not touching anything else inside the unit. I used one hand only so if I did touch something I would not get juiced through the chest. It was a piece of cake repair, but I would not go deeper without doing the discharge routine.

microwave would not heat
First remove all screws holding on outer metal casing of microwave. Next remove the back and bottom metal pieces. You will then be able to pull aside the outer casing so you can access the door switches. Check each switch with an ohm meter in both the open position and with the switch closed. If the ohm meter reads the same in both the open and closed position, the switch is bad. Check the top switch first. Replace switch and reassemble. Cheap fix for a costly microwave. No cooking Power
Had to remove outer cover (special screws involved). Found the correct part at PartSelect.Com and it arrived 3 days later as promissed.

This oven has diffcult electrical connections at switch to get disconnected. I found it easier with the sw loose and in hand so that the connectors can be released with a small screwdriver.

One has to this in order to test the part wirh an ohm meter. I found the sw did not close but remained open and thus caused the oven not to function.

Removing interconnect switch is tricky but not difficult.

Outer cover replacement is not as easy as it should be, especially the sides.

All is well and working.

Microwaves are simple devices if you are know how to read and understand schemetic diagrams.

Microwave not cooking, interior light out
Traced problem to the door primary interlock microswitch.By the way this is the second time this switch has failed. Switch appears to fail after about 3 years. Replacing the lamp was bear.I have the SCA2000BCC03 advantium. It is almost impossible to replace the interior light. After removing from wall remove the case and the control panel disconnecting all of the wires. Gentley pull cavity outward giving you enough room to get an offset philips screwdriver on the single screw retaining the lamp. Its a bear but its possible to do and probably saves you $150 service charge. GE must have assembled the bulb unit before placing it into the unit. There is no simple way to replace the bulb. Maybe new units have easier access. My is 12 years old.
