How do you or can one check the evaporator fan motor to make sure this is the part needed for the repair?
    For model number GSHF5KGXCCBB
Hi Eric, Thank you for your inquiry. Well you would first have to look at it visually. Sometimes ice and frost can build up around the fan blade making it so the blade cannot turn. Check for any signs of breakage. You can test your evaporator fan motor with a multi meter. Unplug your appliance. Set your meter to the lowest setting and touch each probe to the end of the evaporator prongs. If the meter reads 0, then your motor is bad. I hope that helps. Good luck!

The fan motor # wr60x10307, does it push air to refrigerator or does it suck air from the refrigerator?? problem is the freezer is fine but the refrigerator section is freezing at the bottom two draws and 55 degrees at the top shelf with control set at 39 degrees. no air coming out top vent of fridge only air being sucked in at 40 degrees. same with the top vents on the freezer. air blowing out bottom vents of freezer
    For model number GSE26GSEDCSS
Hello Herman, Thank you for your inquiry. It circulates the air over the evaporator coils and converts the heat coming off them into cold air-which then circulates through the freezer. Then the damper control assembly opens and closes to let the proper amount of cold air into the refrigerator compartment. I would recommend checking the temperature sensor and the damper control assembly first with a multimeter to see if they have continuity. Hope this helps!

Recommended temperature on the freezer is zero and the fridge is 34 the temperatures are 6 and 45. Fan was making noise. Remove the panels the fan is hitting the plastic cover on the backside and the blades on the fan all wore down on the end. So is there something wrong with the fan and the motor or is the heating element not working causing the coils to freeze up and possibly ice on the shaft is pushing the fan blade up into the fan cover
For model number ge fridge gshf5kgxgcww
Hi Alvin, thank you for your question. When you are having temperature problems in your fridge, there are a few parts that could cause the issue. You can use a multi meter to test most of the parts. Make sure you cut power to your appliance before doing any repairs or tests. First you should test your defrost thermostat. Place the thermostat in ice cold water for 2-3 minutes after removing it from your appliance. It should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. Another part to check would be your defrost heater. Remove it from the appliance. It should be reading anywhere between 0 - 50 ohms to be working. You could check your temperature sensor. To find the correct reading for this part you will have to refer to your tech sheet that comes with your appliance. You can usually find this tech sheet behind the bottom grille of your fridge on either the right or left side. These are the most common parts that cause this issue in your appliance. So it is suggested you check them first. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
