This evaporator thermistor sensor in your air conditioner measures the temperature of the evaporator coil and adjusts the cooling process accordingly. It is typically attached to the evaporator coil, which cools the air that passes through your air conditioner. If the sensor is broken, your air conditioner may have inconsistent cooling, fail to reach the desired temperature, or frequently turn on and off. An error code on the display could also indicate a problem. A faulty sensor can lead to inefficient energy usage. To remove the sensor, disconnect the wiring by gently releasing its mechanism and remove any mounting bracket, screws, or clips.
