This kit is used on 2-belt washers. It is recommended to change the seal kit at the same time. The tub bearing kit fixes issues with leaking, loud noise, excessive shaking/moving or if your pump is not spinning. The tub bearing kit is fastened in the middle of the outer tub of your washer. The tub bearing ensures the inner tub is spinning effortlessly. If the rub bearing is faulty it might lock up and cause the washer to stop spinning. This is an OEM part that is obtained straight from the manufacturer.

I was not successful in using a special tub wrench that was purchased to break loose the old tub mounting stem and its threaded lock nut. The old tub mounting stem, lock nut, and the tub bearing race had to be cut off the threaded support shaft using a saws-all electric tool. Finally, corrosion on the edge of the tub caused problems with water leaks once the tub top and its rubber tub seal ring were reinstalled and the washer was put back into operation. The bottom line is that it may be questionable to attempt major repairs on washers that are 40+ years old and have any extensive corrosion in internal, mechanical parts.

I used a rotary tool to cut a groove in the old bearing sleeve then chiseled on the groove edge and it split nicely. It was very brittle. The washer seems to work well now. I took my chances and cleaned it up with some fine metal sandpaper. I could not get the worn grooves completely smooth, but did not want to take off more material as I thought it may cause a leak. We'll see * I just used a hammer and punch to retighten the mounting stem and Spanner nut. REMEMBER COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO TIGHTEN * This was not too bad if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. I could have got a new washer, but quite frankly, I get more satisfaction from seeing the old one keep working * One last thing...and this is mostly for the younger guys cause the older guys already know it. CLEAN EVERYTHING on the washer...make it look like NEW and tell your wife how much you saved. Make sure you have the parts and tools to do the job within a timeframe that you do not have to go to the laundry mat and do not leave a big mess. This advice will definately pay off. GOOD LUCK

I want to mention only the difficult parts. The removal of the retaining ring/nut (which is under the agitator) . After 10 + years, it was very hard to move this part and it was eventually broke it to remove it. WD40 was used but not effective (to much calicum build up). We could not remove the old tub bearing (closest to the shaft), so we just cleaned it up with emory cloth and used the new tub seal/outer bearing. Spins great but have not been able to check the water leakage problem yet. Caution: there are two dark colored ring (very thin) that go back on top of the rubber collar. These must be reused. These are hard to see. I pushed the old tub seal/bearing out with the end of a 2x4 (very slowly and carefully). I put the tub up on two of the 2x4's, for clearance off of the floor and used the third to knock the old bearing out. Old machine are very messy.

Will this kit fix oil leaking from under the agitator in to the inside of the tub?

Thank you for your question. To check where your oil leak it coming from you will have to first remove your agitator. Here is a video that will show you how: https://youtu.be/2jVTAq1Buvw . If you see oil leaking out from the spindle coming from the transmission, you will need to replace your transmission. Good luck with your repair.

Our Maytag washer makes a loud noise during agitation but not spin.I have removed the agitator and filled with water, also a loud noise without the agitator centre piece.

On this older Maytag model washer, the agitation cycle works ok. After the wash cycle and the rinse cycle, when the inner tub starts to move to drain the tub, there is a loud squawking noise that usually lasts about 30 seconds then stops while tub is still spinning. Small leak under the unit from somewhere. What parts should i replace? Thanks.

The tub bearing isn’t going back in flush by using my foot. What else can I do? Can I put a little w40 on it so it slides in easier?

Washer has been shaking violently during spin cycle. Tub mount brackets and springs look good. I replaced snubber/damper pads, no significant change. I then changed the tub bearing kit, again no significant change. I then changed the mounting stem/ tub seal kit, looked worn but still no great change. Now we are noticing that the spin does not achieve full speed and sometimes there is a squeal at the beginning of the spin cycle. Belts appear ok, no cracks, not shinny. At times the motor seems warmer than usual. Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your question. If you have already replaced most of the parts listed to fix this issue, I would check to make sure that the washer is level. Also, make certain you are not overloading the washer as this may cause an issue with the parts. Replaced the tub seal and bearing to fix a leaking problem. Washer now shakes aggressively during spin cycle... only at high rpm's. i followed the video instructions to the letter. washer did not spin off balance prior to the repair. any suggestions?

Thank you for your question. If the washer is shaking and moving, There are some parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the damper pads, the belt, the levelling legs, the centering springs, the tub bearing, the glides and springs and the mounting stems. I hope this helps. This washer performs perfectly except that over the last several months the spin cycle has increasingly become slow, to the point where the clothes are still quite wet. This happens even with a light load. The belt appears to be in good shape.
