My socket wrenches are unable to bite on the screws holding the backplate covering fan so as to replace the broiler element. The hex heads appear very shallow, preventing socket wrenches from gripping the screws. Special wrench? Find different sockets?

Hi Ivan, Thank you for the question. You should not have to remove the Fan to replace the element. You can remove the element from the front of the appliance. Just remove the screws that hold the back bracket in place and the brackets that hold the element up to the top of the oven. Pull the element out to expose the wires connected to the element terminals. I suggest getting a clothes pin to hold the wires so they do not fall back into the hole. Reconnect the wires and the screws and you are set.Hope this helps!

GE WB44T10086 Range Convection Element AP4358533 PS2321875 interrupted
after you disconnect the direct breakers and open the oven: 1. remove the first 4 screws and the fan's cover 2. remove the short screws from element convection assembly 3. gently pool both wires and disconnect the old element (two terminals) 4. carefully insert the terminals in the new element. 5. re-screw the short 4 screws (better to buy new ones with the assembly) They are available but sold separated. 6. fix back the fan cover, re-connect the breakers and that's it!
Old broil element started burning with being on OFF position requiring need to turn off breaker and cut element in two to stop progression of burn
1. Turn breaker off at breaker box. 2.Disconnect old broil element. Pull electric wires out 3-4 inches from BACK of oven. Clamp wires or tie off so they do not retreat behind back oven wall. INSTALL wires to new element and secure back plate. Install NEW clamps to new element. Switch on breaker and check operation.
