Product Description

Icemaker Control Assembly Specifications

The “Icemaker Control Assembly” (Module & Motor Assembly, Ice Maker Control Module, Icemaker Module, Refrigerator Ice Maker Module) is what controls the actions of your ice maker. The control turns the timing cams and the ejector blades. It controls most of the basic parts and functions such as the heater, water inlet valve, the cube size, and cube ejection. If your ice maker control is broken it can no longer properly control the ice maker functions. It may not produce any ice, make small ice cubes, or have intermittent operation. This can occur due to normal wear and tear. The icemaker control assembly is attached to the ice maker mold, and is under the white cover. Test the icemaker control assembly by using a multimeter. If this reveals the assembly to be defective, you will need to replace this part. It is approximately 4.25 inches square, beige, and is constructed of plastic and metal. This replacement part features one icemaker control assembly, including the control module and the motor.

Bad module on icemaker
First shut off water supply and unplug power. Unscrew icemaker assembly from side wall with 3 screws. Remove front cap and you can clearly see module. Unscrew and remove module ( only three screws). Install new module and revers procedure to finish up. Ice was ready in just a few hours. Video provided by this site was right on and left no questions.

Ice maker was not making ice
We replaced this part 5 years ago, so we considered ourselves "experienced" at this particular job. We followed the video at your site and after some sticky removal parts, we were able to put the new motor in and finish putting the freezer back in its original shape. After a few worried hours, we again had ice. The video was easy to follow and we couldn't be happier. Thank you for saving us hundreds of dollars.

No ice being made
Watched a video on YouTube on how to replace the icemaker control assembly. The video showed unplugging power, turning off the water supply, and removing the entire ice maker from the freezer. After watching the video several times, I unplugged the refrigerator but did not turn off the water supply. I did not remover the entire ice maker from the freezer, but I did remove the wire shut-off arm. After that, I pried off front cover of the control assembly. The control assembly is held in place by 3 Phillips screws; I removed the screws, removed the icemaker control assembly, replaced the assembly with the new one, replace the cover and wire shut-off arm, and plugged the refrigerator back into the wall. Had ice in about an hour (seemed the system had a little delay before deciding to go to work!).

My freezer is not making ice. How do I know what the problem is.
For model number gz25fsrxyyo
PartSelect logo
Hi Bruce, Thank you for the question. I would first check to see if the ice maker is getting water. If no water is entering the ice maker it could be the water valve. You can take a glass of water (enough to fill the ice maker tray) and pour it into the ice maker and wait to see if it makes ice. If no ice is made then you have a problem with the ice maker. If it does make ice then the valve might not be opening up and sending water to the ice maker. You can also check the water filter. Make sure it has been replaced within the last 6 months. If it becomes clogged or old it can prevent the ice maker from making ice. Hope this helps!

Ice maker not making ice. I replaced the water valve but still not working. Is there a way i can test the ice maker assembly with a multimeter. I would really like to know exactly what to get and not waste money on unnecessary parts
For model number KSRB25FNSS00
PartSelect logo
Hi Chris, Thank you for your question. You cannot use a multi meter unfortunately you would need to have a small piece of insulated wire to test your ice maker. When you remove the ice maker cover that covers the motor, there are two holes at the bottom right hand side of the white wheel on your motor. They are labeled T and H. Place the insulated wire into those two holes and make sure your ice maker is on. If your motor wheel does not start to turn to make ice and bring up your water, then your ice maker is broken and needs to be replaced. Be very careful doing something like this and make sure that you use an insulated wire so that you do not get an electric shock. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

No ice in maker-no water in ice tray-door water dispenser works.
For model number KSRB25FHSS04
PartSelect logo
Hello Bill, thank you for your question. First I would check to see if the ice maker will make ice if you manually fill it. You can take a glass of water (enough to fill the ice maker tray) and pour it into the ice maker. If no ice is made then you have a problem with the ice maker. If it does finish the cycle and dump the ice into the bucket, then the issue might be the valve. The valve might not be opening up and sending water to the ice maker. You can also check the water filter. Make sure it has been replaced within the last 6 months. If it becomes clogged or old it can prevent the ice maker from making ice. Hope this helps!

Ice maker not dispensing ice. Heard water running to ice maker.Checked later and found that water had dripped down from ice tray onto lower shelves and freezer door. Water is frozen on door and icicles formed on the edges of lower shelf. Could this be a faulty ice ejector motor? Thanks
For model number KSCS25INBL01

Hi Carl, Thank you for the question. It sounds like the ice maker is over filling. This normally means the Water Inlet Valve is not closing properly. You can pour a cup of water into the ice maker and see if it makes ice. If the ice maker works when filling it manually and the water pressure is good going to the appliance, I suggest replacing the water valve. Hope this helps!

My icemaker is overfilling the water. Is there an adjustment for the cube size on the icemaker?
For model number MFF2558VEM10
PartSelect logo
Hello Pete, Thanks for your question. The icemaker control assembly affects the size of the ice cubes. There is a plastic screw for the water level adjustment on the right side when you look at the icemaker. Adjust it to adjust the flow of water to the icemaker. I hope this helps.

Ice maker control light flashing red, no ice, water works, filter has been replaced, frig was emptied for 24 hours.
For model number KSRP25FNSS00
PartSelect logo
HI Joe, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the emitter and receiver boards. To test the board you need to open the freezer door and look at the status LED on the right hand side. Make sure the ice maker control is turned “ON”. The status LED should blink twice, pause, and then repeat, blink blink…. pause, blink blink… pause.Next with the freezer door open, hold down the flapper door on the left side to unblock the optics beam. With the optics unblocked, the LED should light up and stay lit with no blinking. If the status LED continues to blink twice , then you have defective optic boards and they will need to be replaced. If there is no LED light on, then the ice maker could be in “harvest” mode. Hold down the freezer light switch, the status LED should flash every second while in harvest mode. If the LED light still does not flash, then the optic control boards will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Ice-maker occasionally leaks water inside the freezer along side the ice-maker, and creates solid ice running down the freezer (near the door). Also it stops producing ice and due to an ice cube being stuck in the ice-maker, or frozen ice in the black tube which handles the water.

Hello Peter, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: the water inlet valve, the defrost heater, the defrost thermostat, the thermistor, the ice maker control assembly, and the thermostats. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

Icemaker not making ice i have water to the water dispenser no water to the icemaker. I replace the water filter. I came in and the floor was covered with water but no water comes into the icemaker .
For model number KSRB22FHSS02
PartSelect logo
Hello Dave, Thank you for your inquiry. We would advised checking the tubing going from the water inlet valve to the icemaker and the and the ice maker water fill tube to see if it is frozen, clogged or cracked. You can also test the ice maker to see if it is functioning properly. To do so, cut a 6- to 8-inch length of 14-gauge solid electrical wire. Use a pair of wire strippers to remove about 1/2 inch of the electrical insulation from each end of the wire. Grab the square cover on the front of your ice maker inside your freezer with your hand. Rock the cover back and forth as you wiggle it away from the front of the ice maker to expose the round gear beneath it. Find two small, round openings marked “H” and “T” beneath the gear. Insert the bare ends of the electrical wire into the openings, so one end of the wire is in one opening and the opposite end is in the other. The wire overrides the timer and manually activates the ice maker. Hope this helps!

The ice marker is over filling, leaving icicle on both ends. I replaced the water valve but still having same problem. Do i need to replace the unit control ?
For model number ED25DQXAN00
PartSelect logo
Hi Marvin, Thank you for your question. If the water pressure is too low, the valve may not close fully when the power is shut off. This will cause the valve leaks water into the ice maker, causing it to overflow. You will need to check the water pressure. The valve requires a minimum of 20 psi to work properly. You will need to also check the ice maker to see if it is working properly as it may be defective. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
