My freezer is making too much ice, is it the door gasket that needs to be replaced?
For model number FRT21S6JS4
Hi Ameli,
Thank you for your question. If ice is building up in your refrigerator, the door gasket is one part that could cause this issue. If the door seal is worn and not sealing correctly, then moisture can build up inside the freezer and freeze, eventually causing a build up of ice. The door hinges should be checked as well. If they are loose and not attached or aligned correctly, moisture can build up and freeze as well. If the refrigerator is too close to the wall, you should move it out a bit to allow air to circulate and allow heat from the compressor to dissipate. Make sure that the vents both in the back and below the refrigerator are cleaned and free of dirt and dust. Also. if there is ice building up in the freezer, the drain may be clogged with debris. This will prevent water from draining and during the regular freeze and thaw of the defrost cycle, ice will build up. If the drain is clogged, you will need to clean it. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

moved into a new home and the inside freezer was iceing next to the freezer gasket.
purchased a new freezer gasket. It is still iceing in the freezer but now all over the top part and down the back. The new gasket does not secure tight enough around the entire freezer door when it is closed. It is secured properly to the door but does not "grab" tight enough when the freezer door is closed.
