Question:

This is a gas fired unit and the blower wheel is stripped from the motor shaft. My unit has sealed blower housing that appears to be glued together. How do I remove this from the drive motor

Ron for model number 41791122310
Answer:

Hi Ron, Thank you for your inquiry. You spin the wheel counter clock wise and that will unscrew the shaft of the motor from the housing. Good luck with your repair.

Dryer was making a loud noise while running

My husband took the lower right panel in the back of the dryer off to check to see if the barings in the motor were worn out making the loud noise. the shaft of the motor spun without a loud noise as he turned it by hand but from the front of the dryer could hear a rattle of something loose. He slid his hand into the exhaust vent from the back and reached all the way through to the front where he could feel that the fan(blower wheel) was loose and turning free from the motor shaft (which revealed itself to be the source of the loud noise) got the part number and ordered the part from you and using the snap ring pliers to remove the old blower wheel put the new one on and now our dryer runs great and quiet. one web site that was helpful was fixitnow.com thanks for all your help

Loud noise when turning on dryer and while running

I followed the instructions on the site from another customer for my model...they were perfect and easy to follow. I was surprised at how easy it was to disassemble the dryer and replace the blower wheel. Like other customers, I took the time to completely clean out the dryer lint, oil all moving parts and replaced the tumbler belt just because I knew it had never been replaced. The dryer purrs like a kitten now and I'm so thankful for the great information provided on your website ref the disassembly and easy to follow instructions on the belt packaging.

The part arrived within 5 days, no hassle, no delay. I will definitely use your company for my next appliance repair.

Thanks

Dryer was too hot. Not enough air flow. Worn wheel hub.

I removed two screws holding the front panel. Then, the front dryer bearing was removed by taking out four screws. With the blower wheel exposed, I removed the snap ring and wheel clamp and removed the wheel. The new wheel was an exact replacement and was easily installed.

Noisy clunky dryer

Thank God for YouTube. I watched a video that helped me identify the problem, then I watched another video of the part being replaced. **Unplug the appliance before you start. 220 volts is not a joke. Maytag dryers have changed very little in the past 40 years. I have a stackable washer/dryer pair with the dryer on top. I had to remove the front cover from the dryer, then remove the bulkhead that acts as a guide for the dryer drum. Next I had to remove the cover that runs from the lint-trap down to the blower motor. The problem was the shaft of the dryer motor is a D shape and the plastic squirell-cage fan (Blower Wheel) had worn to a full circle. So the squirrel-cage was just wobbleing around on the motor shaft. There were two spring clips to remove, then the blower wheel just pulled out. I put the new one on, replaced the clips, buttoned it all back up and plugged it back in. The result is a whisper quiet dryer. The hardest part of the whole process was removing the spring clips while trying to hold the drum in position (I was working alone).

Dryer making noise

Our Maytag dryer was making a lot of noise..a rumbling that would continue for a few seconds after dryer would stop. Thanks to this web site, I determined it was the blower wheel. The plastic wheel "rounds out" over time, and slips on the shaft. Replacement was very easy...just keep track off all the screws and bolts you take off to access blower wheel...and make sure none of the wires from the front panel come undone. I saved myself a ton of money doing it myself...parts were abount 25$.
