This looks like the part i need in the diagram but the description says it’s for the bottom oven i need the top element in the top oven, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’ve ordered parts from you guys before and they were exactly what i needed and as described, i just want to double check before i order,

The heating element on the upper oven is not working. When we set the upper oven to heat, the broil element comes on. ( broil element also comes on when we set to broil). Is replacing the heat element going to solve the problem?

When the bake button is pressed on the upper oven, is the broiler element activated along with the bake element during the pre-heat cycle?

I received and replaced the upper oven bake element. (ps2082040). The element still does not heat. I checked continuity on the old element and it appears to be ok. Could the problem lie in the control panel? Is there a way to reset the control panel to factory settings?

Hi Richard,
Thank you for your question. If you have replaced the baking element and it is still not heating, there may be an issue with the oven temperature sensor. This fixes the issue the majority of the time. You will need to test the sensor with a multimeter to see if it is working correctly. Set your multimeter to the Rx1 setting and touch the terminals with the probes. The reading you should receive varies between models, refer to your owner’s manual to determine how much resistance a functioning thermostat should have for your model. Additionally, refer to your wiring diagram to determine which set of contact(s) you should be testing. If the issue is not with the sensor, you will also need to check the electronic control board and the wiring between the parts to see which part is causing the issue. We hope this helps! The bottom element of the upper oven does not heat. The upper element still works. Is there an additional way to test the bottom element to be sure the element itself is at fault rather than some other component in the circuit?

Hey Rick, thank you for reaching out. We would recommend taking a look at the upper bake element, part number PS2082040, to see if it is working or not. To test the element for continuity using the ohmmeter, you may set the range scale on R x 1 and place the probes on the element terminals. If there is continuity, the readings will be ranging from 19 to 115 ohms. Readings will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and according to unit size and wattage. Be sure to check the manual for precise specifications. If there are any signs of element burning, or if there is no continuity, then you may need to replace the element. We hope this helps!

The much used, upper oven heating element burned out and needed to be replaced.
I pulled the range out, unplugged it and removed the back panel with a Phillips-head screwdriver. I then removed the two screws inside the oven that holds the element in place. I located the two wires on the back of the range attached to the element. I gently pulled off the wires using a pliers and then easily removed the burned out element. I put the ends of the replacement element into the respective holes, screwed them in and then plugged the wires back on at the back of the range. After replacing the back panel, I plugged the range back in. I turned the oven on with an oven thermometer inside, to test it out. I imagine I saved at least a couple of hundred dollars for the repair with this simple DIY, if not, the cost of a new double oven range!

dual oven range, upper bake element melted
Removed oven door and rack. Removed two screws holding element. Disconnected wires to element. One of the wires slipped into the back wall of the oven. The range had to be removed from the counter and back panel removed to gain access to the element wires. Install new bake element in upper oven. Connect wires to element spade lugs. Install rear panel. Restore power at circuit breaker panel. Very important - aways disconnect power before starting work.

oven heating elements were burned out
I unplugged the oven then, one element at a time, I removed the screws and pulled the connecter out of the sleeve. This was the hardest part as it is a tight fit. Then, reverse the order to replace the element. The upper elements were more work because of the brackets used to hold them in place. But this only took alittle more time to remove and replace each one. When I plugged the oven back in and turned it on everything worked great! Back to baking!
element malfunction coating starting to deteriorate
Turned power off at the breaker for the range--double check to be on the safe side ---pair of light rubber type gloves-- stool to sit my old butt down on and a Phillips screw driver--removed the top burner first this is accomplished by removing the screws on each end of the burner unit--now each end of the burner unit has an coupling which will pull apart--wiggle the connection side to side and pull--when you have the couplings apart you have to remove the top brace that this burner unit slides into you remove the old unit and remove the bottom unit the same way except it doesn't have a brace---it helps to have long arms, which I don't , it was a bit of a stretch--be careful---plus I have a very thankful wife!!!!
The heating element was damaged by a fire extinguisher.
First I unplugged the range from the wall outlet power source...VERY IMPORTANT!!! Then I unscrewed the 2 mounts in the back of the range that hold the heating element in place. I removed the old and installed the new one and reattached the 2 new mounts with the original screws and plugged the range back into the wall outlet. Other than the small and dark work space inside the small oven, it was super easy to do and probably saved us $175!

Heating element did not heat
I removed the two small screws, gently pulled the element outward, slid the wire connectors off the ends of the element legs and reversed the process to install the new one. THE ELEMENT STILL DOES NOT HEAT. There must be a bad switch or thermostat at the ON switch area. That will be checked out by a Repair man as soon as I can get a schedule from him.

Element showed signs of deterioration. Aleady replaced broiler so it was time fr the ake element.
Couple of screw, couple of minutes. Simple R and R. Took longer to walk down and turn the breaker off ;)

element burned out
after removing the element as decribed, my husband replaced the new element with the screws removed and it worked like new, less than 10 minutes and we appreciated so much the element was received so quickly.

Lower element in oven burned out
When the element failed, it continued to glow nearly white-hot and slowly burned along a spiral path on the element. I figured this MUST be due to a voltage leak - the control was OFF on the range.
I shut off the breaker, removed the two screws where the element goes through the back of the oven, pulled the element forward and pulled the wires off of the element. (Found it handy to twist the wire connectors outward to prevent the wires from slipping through the back of the oven.)
A new element won't "fit" exactly but you can easily push it into position to get the screw holes to line up. Total time was less than 15 minutes.
