Blower Motor Specifications

This is a blower motor for your range, but you may also know it as a blower fan motor or a downdraft vent fan motor. This part is used with down draft models. It helps draw the steam and odors through the vent for the stove top when the switch is activated. The blower motor has a diameter of five inches. The shaft on this model has a 3/8-inch diameter with a counter clockwise rotation. This motor includes the foam seal.

Motor runs off and on. Does this usually mean the motor is about shot ? If so, how do i remove the motor from the plenum > thanks for your help !

Hello Richard, thank you for your question. If the fan motor is turned on, and starts and stops when engaged the issue is either the switch for the fan or the motor. The switch can be tested with a multimeter to determine if it is the problem. I hope this helps!

Am concerned because of the number changes in the part that i have saved in the cart. I need to be sure that it will work with the model number of stove that i have.

JES9860CAB01. Hi there fan switch goes on it has power but the fan for the downdraft does not work? What do I need to purchase for parts or is the problem?

blower motor died
Pulled the motor and blower wheel from below. Replaced both. I think it was easier to replace the two together than just the motor.I also had old light indicators so we replaced them since the stove was sort of apart. The repair was not difficult at all, and my 30+ stove top looks and runs great!

Motor bearing failure after 34 years.
Important: Down load the helpful assembly diagram for the fan motor and study it for a few minutes. It's very straight forward. Also a good idea is to remove the bottom panel which comes off easy before starting.

My only problem was removing the existing blower/fan wheel without damaging it once I had the assembly on the work bench. It was rusted on tight and managed to remove after a few tries using penetrating oil. The wheel is in stock and I'd suggest buying a new one along with the new motor if I had to do the job again.

Bottom line; the fan motor fit perfect but did have to re-use part of the old existing electric pig tail because the motor does not come with the factory type motor terminal connectors. By using three twist on wire connectors was back in business. The down draft vent works like new.
