Door Latch Kit Specifications

This is a door latch kit, but you may also know it as a door catch kit. It is designed for your dryer. This part helps hold the door shut on your appliance. This dryer door latch kit comes in two pieces: a door latch, and a door strike or clip. Both parts are a beige white color and made entirely of plastic. Together they are 2 inches wide, 1 inch long, and about 1 inch high. To replace the door latch kit, you will need a pair of needle-nose pliers and a number 2 Phillips screwdriver.

no power, not turn on
I bought all the recommended parts for this trouble, but it turned out to be caused by burt wire on terminal block causing separation from block as all latches, motor, breakers, elements, switches and thermal sensors tested positive continuity, I finally decided to look in rear panel where incoming power meets terminus to motor, etc. and wires were burnt at ends and post on block was separated from base. I got on phone immediately to customer service to order part shown on their very helpful schematic diagram seen on partselect website. The part was unfortunately discontinued but may be available from other sources. She explained how to search based on part # and the words " terminal block" which directed me to a supplier in MI. Repair completed once appropriate part was received. Thanks again for the direction given even though part was not purchased in the end. Will certainly return to partselect in the future if any issues come up in future. Very helpful site for the DIY'er!!

Door latch broken
one screwdriver, one new door latch, five minutes! Pried out the female part of the door latch, tapped in the new one and started the dryer. Never had an easier repair. Usually there is some hitch along the way you learn about the hard way, but not this time. TOO EASY!!

Dryer Door would not stay Closed during operation.
Got on line and ordered a door striker and door latch. When my parts arrived, they also came with instructions. Turned out the metal clip on back of stiker had broken and would not help the plastic striker to close over the door latch. I only replaced the plastic striker and saved the door latch. Parts were around 16.00 dollars plus a little shipping cost, saved me a 45.00 service charge from a repairmen plus the cost of parts. So easy!!!!!

dryer knob brock off and installed with new
To remove and install the new parts, I followed the video instruction at whirlpool.com. Then removed the old knobs and put the new ones in. The new one created a rough contact and needed a little lithium grease to make a smooth insertion to prevent the friction from damaging the new part. It was an easy fix and took about ten minutes. Good luck in your repairs!

Door Latch broken
unscrew the screws at bottom front of dryer, lift outward, upward, the bottom of the front of the dryer. As the dryer front tilts outward/upward from the bottom, the area where its hinged at the top of the front will disengage from the main frame of the dryer and the face of the front of the dryer comes off. remove the old door latch by manipulating the plastic body of the latch (wiggle, twist pinch . . .) until, from the back, you can push the old latch forward through the front of the front of the dryer. At this point, you can put the new door latch back in from the front and push it in to place.

door latch broken door would not shut
I followed the video on the site which was really helpful.I took the door off without problem. I had to take the bottom panel off the front and unscrew screws on large front panel.Replacing the latch was a breeze. Just as shown on video. Be careful that dryer drum doesn't fall down off wheels. My did and had to push it back up.Replaced all panels and screws and it works great.

Dryer door latch replacement
It was so easy to repair that my wife did it. She used a screw driver to pop out the old, worn plastic part that the door latch goes into and snapped in the new part and it was all done. So nice to be able to fix it yourself!
