Product Description

Belt Kit Specifications

This kit includes both the drive belt and the pump belt which are both V-shaped. If your washer does not toss, spin, or drain water properly, this might be because one of these belts has worn or stretched out. This results in the belt losing its grip and no longer driving the pump. The pump belt is black and made of rubber. The pump belt is located between the motor and pump underneath the washer. Simply remove the belt and hook the new one around the pulley. You may need to loosen or tighten the belt to ensure it is set in place properly.

Not agitating ; top shaft seizing up
Removed tubs per prescribed videos. Removed transmission per video. Disassembled transmission per video. Used heat and penetrating oil to free top shaft. Lubricated top shaft and bushings with grease and reinstalled. Reassembled washer with replacement parts from partselect. Problem solved. My wife loves this washer. It lasted 30 years before I had issues, many of the internals looked brand new. They dont make' m like this anymore. With the self- help videos, and OEM parts from partselect, I'll get another 30, Thank you so much.

Washer making high pitched squeal at stopping of spin cycles
My washer is apparently 37 years old. I bought it used in the 90’s and have had to do little or nothing to it repair wise. It started to make a loud squeal/squeak when the spin cycle stopped. I watched a couple videos showing the brake assembly, bearings and belt replacement and was able to find parts. However, one bearing appears to no longer be made (just repacked with heavy duty grease) and the special tool is nonexistent. I read others using a chain clamp vise to remove the brake assembly and bought a 20 inch chain clamp vise and a 3 set variety of vise grip pliers for about $20. They make an 18 inch chain vise but glad I got the 20 inch. I used two vise grip pliers to clamp chain around notch two notches that the specialty tool would normally grab. It was a cumbersome getting in there to whack the pliers with a small sledge hammer so I got a approx 18 inch 2x4 and cut a notch at the end to keep chain vise from digging into bottom of washer and whacked the end of the 2x4. Seemed to work ok and did the same to tighten back after replacing break assembly. Got it out back together and no more squeal.

No tub spin, burning smell.
Partselect.com gave me a very helpful list of parts per symptom. Said that there is an 88% chance that belts were my problem. Since the machine is 200 miles away I ordered two other parts as well. Belts fixed it! Took front cover off (not totally necessary). When the machine is tilted back belts are exposed underneath. Two belts later I was up and running. This site is really great.

Agitator won't move, belt wore out after 24 years.
Removed 2 Philip screws from bottom front panel. The belts came as a set, so pay attention to the belt sizes when replacing them. Have had the new belts installed now for a week or longer with no issues. Looks like a good fix.

Water won't drain, slight water leak, unbalances frequently
My washer was sitting in a safety drain pan which made it difficult to work on due to the height of the pan walls. Managed to tilt it back and support on blocks well enough to access underside. Found two of the four leveling feet had fallen off, which was the ultimate cause of the problems from the cumulative effect of running unbalanced over time. Reinstalled these feet and had to remove rust to do so. I added two more nuts to the front feet to hold the adjustment tight. After adjusting to level, washer ran great and was no longer prone to unbalance. Procedure: Remove front panel- two lower screws and pry/pull off. Remove hoses at pump. Remove 3 mounting screws from pump. Remove belt from pump pulley. Push motor towards center of washer to release tension from other belt, and remove belt. Replace with new belt. Replaced old drain hose to pump and replaced all hose clamps with new. Install pump, replace pump belt. Level the washer. Replace front panel. Take the opportunity while the washer is open to clean out the dust from inside!

My washer fills up n won't agitate but will spin water out
For model number lat7300aav
PartSelect logo
Hi Jor, Thank you for your question. If your washer will not agitate, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the belt, the lid check switch, the lid switch assembly, the lid switch, the glide and spring kit, the tension springs, the mounting stem/tub seal and the tub bearing. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

My washer makes a squealing sound when the wash cycle begins and barely moves during the agitation. There is also an odor in my laundry room like burning rubber/plastic. From your site it looks like belts but i’ve read it could be the block or bell. I’m hoping it’s belts since that looks easy to repair. Thank you for your help.

Burning smell, will not agitate Is it worth it to repair a 25 year old washer?
For model number LAT9314AAE
PartSelect logo
Hello Diane, thank you for your question. Yes, if the unit works well otherwise, it is worth fixing the issue. That smell could be coming from the belt Belt Kit Part Number: 12112425, Brake AssemblyPart Number: WP6-2011900, Drain Pump Part Number: WP6-2022030, and Drive Motor - One Speed - 120V Part Number: 12002351 first. I hope this helps.

The agitator has started banging during the wash cycle. I think the bang is when the agitator stops and changes direction. Will new belts help solve or stop the agitator from banging? Thanks.
For model number LAT8214AAL
PartSelect logo
Hello Anthony, thank you for your question. It could be that the belt has stretched and is causing the banging when the agitator stops to change direction. I would also check the Mounting Stem/Tub Seal Kit part number PS2351899. I hope this helps!

The belts were changed about 2 years ago, what is the time frame for belt changes, is this the problem for intermittent noise & vibration?
For model number la482
PartSelect logo
Hello Brian, Thank you for your inquiry. There is no recommended time frame for belt changes, it depends on how much the washer is used. The belt is one of the things that could cause the washer to be noisy and shaking. The other things I would check would be the damper pad kit and the glide and spring kit. Hope this helps!
