Washer fills then don’t agitate unless i help by spinning the belt slightly then the same thing between each cycle. No burnt smell, just humming until i help start it. Could it be the motor switch?
For model number Lat7304aam

Hello Jim, thank you for your question. If the belt is tight and the pulley is moving after you give the belt a push and does not seem like its seizing up, the motor should be replaced. The switch/capacitor sounds bad on that motor. Good luck with your repair!

Washing machine motor makes a loud banging noise as it slides toward the drum. This happens at the beginning while it’s gaining speed in spin cycle. I also noticed a light surging nearby as the noise is made. Do I need to replace motor?
For model number A482

Hello Frank, thank you for inquiring. For this symptom you will want to replace either the Belt Kit part PS2005284, the Tub Bearing Kit part PS2347235, or the Rear Bearing part PS11739437. We hope this helps.

My washer stopped spinning and made a buzzing sound. Then I smelled burning. Replaced the motor(43 years old). doing the same thing(buzzing sound). I am at a loss.
For model number A105 top load washer

Hi Matthew, thank you for your question. A burning smell coming from the washing machine during or after the spin cycle indicates the possible stuck drain pump in which its pump motor would not turn. With that, it may generate a burning smell. We would recommend checking the following parts to fix the issue: belt kit, part number PS2005284, glide and spring kit, part number PS2017149, tub bearing kit, part number PS2347235, and drain pump, part number PS11743017. We hope this information is useful!

Hi, My machine made a high pitched squeal during a cycle and then smoke came out. Unplugged machine. Unloaded the washer and was able to turn to spin cycle to drain the water. The machine is no longer smoking but will not agitate. It will fill and spin but not agitate. What can be done to fix this issue?

Washer motor start windings burned up
The motor was easy to replace: unplug the wiring harness, slip off the belts, release the tension springs from the motor carriage with needle-nose pliers, and then unbolt the motor carriage with socket set and remove from the washer. Remove the pulley from the old motor with allen wrench and transfer the carriage to the new motor. Reverse operation for everything and you are back in business. The hardest part was the far back screw holding the carriage, a wobble extension helped.
