I didn't repair anything because you sent me the wrong part! I submitted a claim to return it and it's been a week, and I have heard nothing from you. Horrible customer service, I'll be calling today.

center of duel element burner was not working
replaced burner by following the wiring from the photo we took. worked god except was cooking to hot and would not cycle. went to use my smaller burner in the back on the same side and the center of the double came on. so we watched another video looked at what we did wrong with the wiring. here we wired the burner slightly wrong we did not follow the numbering. this time followed the numbering and all is good. burner is working good and cycling.

Large element on stove top burned out
The replacement unit was a substitute part. Wiring slightly different. Instructions bare minimum. Follow instructions and it does work. No instructions as to how to remove the stove top. Been there before so sort of knew how. Nothing in the Jenn Air manual for stove top removal. The control panel has to be removed, two screws on each side and four hex screws on bottom, this allows for the disconnect of wiring for the top.
Remove the two trim pieces one on each side. One screw at top and one at bottom. The trim piece will move towards the rear and come off. Two screws on each side and two in the back will release the top. Remove top and lay on padded surface. You are ready to replace unit.

Inner Element Would Not Heat
I did not mark wires with their associated numbered connections on the old burner but I did take pictures prior to removing the old burner. This slightly complicated finding the right connections for the wires on the new burner but the photos taken were invaluable in doing so. The placement of burner connections between new and old was different. Additionally, there were 2 connections on new and old that were not numbered. These turned out to be the power to the inner and outer coils and their connections were determined by examining the burners and connecting accordingly. Also, not mentioned in the instructions was a light on the new burner that the old burner did not have. I removed the light and the wire connecting it to the burner and connected the freed new burner connector based on the old/new burner connection numbering. Despite my lack of confidence that I correctly installed the burner, it worked on the first try and I am very happy to have it fully functional again.

Outer Ring of Dual Radiant Burner Does Not Come On
Undid two screws on underside of cook top, lifted and exposed underside. Transferred wires from the faulty burner to the new burner, one at a time, paying close attention to their respective position on the wiring posts/terminals. Undid two screws holding old burner and then mounted the new burner to underside of cook top. Was really simple to do. :)

Faulty Element Thermostat
1)Turn off breaker to range
1.1)Disconnect the downdraft vent blower
2)Remove Range from Counter area (delicate procedure)
Caution do not stress (Lift with or pull on) the cook-top
3)Remove Ceramic cook-top from base (hidden fasteners-remove the vert trim at front of range - it hides two fasteners)
4)Remove old elements
5)Rebuild the supplied elements (multiple options, copy the old element layout before disassembling- tricky)
6)Swap-out replacement elements (replacement elements were assembled slightly differently in the new style elements so wiring was slightly different)
7)Re-assemble Ceramic cook-top
8)Re-mount to base (needs assistant to support ceramic while reconnecting cable harness connector)
8) Re-set range into counter (Ceramic cook-top is very delicate, so extreme care is required to prevent damage)

Trouble with stove element. Model number mer6872baw. The dual element won’t stay on. It comes on for about 8-10 seconds and then goes off. I have tried replacing the element and the switch. All the other burners work. Any ideas?
For model number MER6872BAW
PartSelect logo
Hi Steve, thank you for your question. If you have replaced both the element and the switch already then the only other thing that we could think of would be that there is a wiring issue inside of your appliance. You may want to check to see if there is any damage to the wiring between the element and the switch. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

My Kenmore smoothtop cooktop right front dual burner control no longer works it seems to have disconnected/broken away from the rest of the heating element mechanism. Do i need to replace the entire element to reconnect?
For model number 629-45776
PartSelect logo
Hello Laura, thank you for your question. Yes, If the limiter on the element has broken away from the element itself, you would have to replace the entire dual burner element. Good luck with your repair!

Oven element is broken. And dual right side burners don’t work. What parts and how to change them?
For model number JES9800AAB

The upper oven lower bake element will not heat up. I replaced it with a new one from partselect and it still will not heat up. The broil element heats up. Which part controls the current to the lower bak element?
For model number MER6772BAS
PartSelect logo
Hi Tim, Thank you for your question. If the bake element is not heating correctly, then the issue is likely with the oven sensor, sometimes called the oven thermostat, and you will need to check it with a multimeter. When testing the sensor with a multimeter, the sensor should be tested at room temperature and it should be unplugged from the oven. You will need to measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. Replace the oven sensor if the reading is less than 900 Ohms or more than 1200 Ohms. If is not is not the sensor, you will need to check the bake element, the electronic control board and the wiring between the parts to see which one is causing the issue. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Right front dual burner stays high when control knob set to lower settings.
For model number JES9800AAB
PartSelect logo
Hello John, thank you for your question. The most likely issue is the switch PartSelect Number PS2003583 that controls the burner. We would recommend replacing that part and if that doesn't fix the issue you would replace the element itself. You can also test the switch before ordering to be sure it is bad. This link will help you with the testing process. https://www.partselect.com/Range-Stove-Oven+Infinite-Switch-Testing+repair.htm I hope this helps!

Jenn-Air downdraft cooktop. Both the right rear small burner and the right front larger dual burner have 'burned out' at different times. When each one stopped there was a pop and the circuit breaker flipped. We are using only the left burners until we get it fixed. Please confirm the part numbers for each burner element, and should i also be concerned about the switch for each?
For model number CVE3401B
PartSelect logo
Hello Steven, Thank you for contacting us. I have researched the model you have provided and have found the part you’re looking for is Part Number: PS11764912 for the small burner and Part Number: PS11759488 for the dual burner. Only way to know for sure if the switch was shorted is to test the switch with a multi meter. Hope this helps!
