was not making ice cubes
I followed instructions you had posted for another person with the same problem. They were perfect. It took 15-20 minutes complete. The hardest part was lining up correctly when putting back together. The previous instructions were as follow: After removing the ice bucket you need to unscrew the left side bucket slides. Under the slide you will be able to see the ice maker wire harness. Unplug the harness and then push a small tab on the left bottom side to release the ice maker then pull the old ice maker out. My icemaker is making a knocking sound every few seconds. It also isn’t making ice and we aren’t sure what’s wrong or how to fix it. When i took out the ice tray i could see a lever moving where the sounds coming from. I’ve shut off the ice maker and the sound stops after a bit but when i turn it back on it starts back again randomly

Hi Scott, Thank you for your question. There could be a couple of things that may be happening. I would suggest checking your fill tube to your ice maker and making sure that it is not clogged with ice. It sounds like what is happening is that your ice maker is trying to make ice, so the motor is turning to expel ice that just is not there. Sometimes your fill tube can get clogged with ice. The other thing could be your water inlet valve itself. Your valve has two solenoids on it. One for the ice and one for the water. It could be that your ice solenoid has stopped working. So your ice maker calls up water but never gets it. I would suggest checking those two things first. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

My ice maker has pieces of white plastic showing up in the ice, something grinding. Ice maker doesn't shut off when it is full of ice. Replace ice maker?
For model number GFSS6KKYASS

Hi Brent, Thank you for the question. Most cases the plastic pieces are coming from something broken in the Ice Bucket and Auger Assembly, PartSelect Number PS2371091. I suggest removing it from the appliance and taking a look to see if there is something broken.Hope this helps!

Ice maker fills up but wont dump ice into tray you can here it trying, ice is stuck in tray seems like.
For model number PFSS6PKXASS

Hi Jeff, Thank you for your inquiry. I would suggest taking a look at your ice maker, it could be that the heater at the bottom that is supposed to loosen up the ice once it is ready is malfunctioning. I would also suggest testing your solenoid as well. I hope this helps. Good luck with your repair.

My fridge is making a noise that sounds like a pressure cleaning machine. When I open the freezer door on the bottom the noise stops. Can this be the icemaker?
For model number PFSS6PKW
PartSelect logo
Hello Edwin, Thanks for your question. Given that the noise stops when you open the freezer door, we would suspect the issue is the evaporator fan motor, part number PS2338132. The water inlet valve and the icemaker should also be tested to ensure they are not clogged or jammed. I hope this helps.

I installed the new ice maker kit, but it's not making ice. I also don't hear any sound from the ice maker as far as drawing water. It's been a few hours now and no ice. Help!

Hello John, thank you for writing. Was the reason you replaced the ice maker because it was not making ice? If so, you may also want to consider replacing either the Water Valve part PS2338130 for your model. It is also possible that the installation was done incorrectly. We do not have installation instructions for this particular Ice Maker Assembly, however we do have a YouTube channel with repair videos that may be of assistance to you.
