Question:

Changed water inlet valve got water to water but no water going to ice maker .What could be my problem . I have changed my ice maker from the one that came in my ref. 2 times and now can't get one out of the 3 to work .Very frustrated please help

Jackie for model number GSS20GEWPWW
Answer:

Hi Jackie, Thank you for the question. I suggest is checking the water lines going to the ice maker. The lines can freeze and prevent water from flowing through to the ice maker. Also check to make sure all the connectors in the water lines are secure and not damaged. Verify the water supply going to the appliance is open as well. If the water filter has not been changed in 6 months it can prevent water from getting to the ice maker as well. Hope this helps!

Question:

It's making ice but also leaking water on bottom of the freezer section to the floor what can cause that

Mitchell for model number GSH25JSXNSS
Answer:

Hi Mitchell, Thank you for your question. There are a number of parts that can cause leaking inside of your appliance. The first part in the list is your water inlet valve, water lines, grommet and tube assembly (which is the part that fills water to your ice maker) if you have the older version and the tube does not have an opening at the top, it could be that your current fill tube is icing up at times and wont let water through when it is being called up. Causing a back leak. I would suggest looking at those parts first. When you search your model number in our system, we will have a symptoms list with the list of parts that usually cause leaking in your appliance. If those three parts are not the culprit, you could consult that symptoms list. Good luck with your repair.

Question:

When the ice maker fills the tray water runs over into the into storage tray

jerry for model number GSS25JFPAWW
Answer:

Hi Jerry, Thank you for your inquiry. If the water pressure the ice maker from the water inlet valve is too low the valve may not close fully and this would cause the ice maker to overflow. To close fully the water inlet valve needs a minimum of 20 psi. If it is not working correctly you will need to replace the water inlet valve. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Question:

The water is freezing in the outlet to the ice maker

TODD for model number GSL22JFTABS
Answer:

Hi Todd, Thank you for your question. I think then that you may have to replace that part. It looks like that part was updated by the manufacturer. It used to be a completely closed off tube but now has a little opening at the top to make it easier to prevent the ice build up. Thank you and have a great day!

Question:

Richard for model number GDE20ESEBRSS

Ice fills up ice pan but when trying to dispense crushed ice or cubes nothing comes out. Just brought ice storage pan complete with auger. Why ice will not dispense crushed or cubes

Mary for model number GSH25JFTFBB

Question:

My Frigidaire refrigerator ice maker make a loud noise ,what could be the problem

leslie for model number JSI-23
Answer:

Hello Leslie, thank you for contacting us. If you hear a loud hissing sound coming from the ice maker, it is the sound of the water shooting through the supply line and into the molds. This is normal. If you hear a crashing or a tumbling sound, that can be the ice falling into the ice bucket. Some clicking noise may be the ice bin level arm caught on something and is clicking trying to return back. Hope this helps!

Question:

Answer:

Hi Joe, Thank you for your inquiry. There are some parts that may fix this issue. They are the dispenser crusher cover, the ice bucket auger, the ice maker, the dispenser door solenoid assembly, the housing crusher dispenser, the door recess spring and the dispenser door assembly or flapper. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

The icemaker quit making ice and the water started forming on the bottom of the ice bucket.

First I removed the electrical plug from the back of the freezer that plugs into the icemaker. I then removed the two hex head screws that hold the icemaker to the wall of the freezer and removed the icemaker. I removed the plastic cover, which incidentally protects the gears, by prying it off with a srewdriver. I removed three small nuts(7mm) which holds the internal cam in place. I removed the cam by pulling it off the shaft. Once I got the part from you folks I reversed the procedure that I just mentioned, and put the icemaker back together. It works great. The part with shipping was around $16.00. A new icemaker was roughly $159.00. If I would have called a technician it would have cost around $300.00 to repair.

Would not make ice

The part I received was not an exact replacement, but GE confirmed that it was the current part to be used. The elect. cord on the new unit was about 3" longer than the original. In addition, it had the wrong plug, but they did supply an adapter cord with the correct plug, but that added another 6" to the cord length. There was no mention in the instructions, with the part ,for how to deal with all of the extra cord and the very bulky extra plug. After several attempts to get technical help from PartSelect and GE, I said to hell with it and just jambed the cord in as best I could. It is not pritty but it works.

Ice maker stopped making ice.

Did the repair just as the instruction said, once I read it. The part I didn't read was that if the plug was under the ice maker, you had to take the wire out of the clip on the side. So, had to dismount ice maker, unclip wire, remount maker, plug it in. Still under 30 minutes. Thank you.

Leaking and making stalactites

Had to defrost the freezer to melt off all the ice before servicing. Once that was done the icemaker replacement only took about 15-30 minutes to complete. The new icemaker came with many accessories and adaptors that were not needed and the instructions were based on replacing an older model and not really clear for my model. They mentioned not being able to use the new stripper but it was exactly the same as the old one so I left the new one in place. All in all it was easy and did the job.

Water leaking and freezing everywhere. Weird shaped ice cubes, more like chunks which jambed the dispenser.

First removed the two screws that holds the old ice maker in place. Unplugged it. The freezer compartment was too narrow to allow the unit to slide out or turn in any other direction. Had to also remove the two front screws from the left side ice bin track and swing it down. The door opening was also too tight. Scratched the plastic door jamb putting the new unit in but other than that all is well and functioning well.

Icemaker quit working when we moved

My husband took out the old icemaker in about 5 minutes. The new icemaker was a perfect fit even though the refrigerator was >10yrs old. The only difficult part was the plug extension that was needed so that it would fit into an older appliance. The part was included, it just made the cord about 3 inches longer than it needed to. After working with it for about 20 minutes we were able to fit it on the back side of the icemaker. Now it works great!!

Ice maker stopped making ice

I had made a dry run at the repair after watching the instructional film provided by part select and it seemed easy enough.
The only problem was that i needed to use the electrical cord extender (provided) to adapt to my plug type. That presented a problm because it needed to be tucked up out of the way to allow the ice bin to clear. Just needed to be creative in how you wrapped the cord behind the ice maker unit before snugging the attachment screws.
Cranking out ice like crazy.

Ice maker wouldn't shut off

unplug refrigerator. Remove Ice bin then remove the cover off the ice maker,(slides off from bottom then lift off top) no reason to remove ice maker completely. Remove center gear screw and remove main gear from Ejector blade. remove (3) screws holding the front plate. The motor and switches are attached to this plate from behind, do not remove the nut from the from the stud that adjusts the travel for the motor. The Motor and switches will come upt with the plate and the shut off arm will come out of a hole in the top right. Its ok just be careful when you put it back to get it in the hole. remove the old cam and replace it wint the new one and reassemble. Its a bit tricky to get all of the microswitches over the new cam just carefully wiggle the plate and cam and don't push too hard. once everything is lined up it should go back together and you can replace the screws and main gear :)

Ice maker not calling for water to make ice.

I removed the screws that held the unit in place, and also the screws that held a plate that covered where the unit plugs in. I unplugged the unit, and removed it. Put the new one in, reversing the steps. Turned the new unit on, and had ice in 45 minutes! Summer is coming, I need my ice maker! This is the second unit I have replaced on this refrigerator, the first one was not releasing the cubes. This second one was a different style than the first, but same install process.
