This is a replacement interlock plunger for your dishwasher. The interlock plunger actuates the door latch switch, which allows the door to latch, which sends a signal to the electronic control board, indicating that the door is closed. If the plunger is damaged or missing, your door may not latch properly, and your dishwasher may not start. The plunger itself is a small piece of white plastic approximately 2 inches in length. You may also need to replace the spring in the door latch assembly while completing this repair. Be sure to disconnect power to the dishwasher before you begin this repair.

Panel lights come on and beep when pressed but dishwasher wont start,
Had a leaking problem periodically
For model number GLD5660V00SS
Hi Walter,
Thank you for your question. If the dishwasher will not start, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the interlock switch, the spring plunger, the interlock cover, the door handle actuator, the recess door spring and the door latch. If the dishwasher is leaking periodically, you will need to check the water inlet valve, the tub gasket, the pump connector, the inlet sump, the bottom door seal, the drain tube, the hose clamps and the impeller. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Dishwasher will not start. Control panel has power (lights up & i can choose type of wash, etc.). When i push start, the sensor light lights up, as it should; however, after a few seconds i hear a "click" and the sensor light turns off. The "reset" button works. I thank you in advance for your advice!

Hello and thank you for writing.
It certainly sounds like it could be a faulty spring plunger PS1019010 and/or possibly a malfunctioning interlock switch PS783632 you should check the part(s) for signs of damage or test with a multimeter, and replace the part(s) as needed. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.

would not start
First I removed the 6 screws that hold the inside cover on the door. Then I remover the plastic cover over the switches, pulled out the switches and disconnected the 2 wires from each switch and connected connected them to the new switches exactly as they were on the old switches. Then reinstalled the switches in their holders.I then removed the plunger and spring from between the switches and installed the new spring and plunger exactly like the old one was installed.I reinstalled the door cover making sure everything was in it's place,I put the screws in the door cover and I was done.It was a very simple job. Cover, Interlock Heats Ups And Bends Causing Switch Problems
Ordered your new and improved interlock cover made with better plastic (thank you). Your new spring is also better. It's bigger and longer and is now the right size. (Thank you). Your parts are better than oem. The interlock is easy to get to. The oem one is black and you can see that it is bulged. The replacement one is gray speckled with white and black. You can see the improvement by just making a comparison. Just unclip the old one and clip in the new one. . Repace panel cover. Now it works and should work now for many a year. Thanks! Parts select.
The repairman diagnosed the problem as a control board failure and quoted a $350 bill. I self-diagnosed it as a failed interlock switch -- and found out that the switch was OK but the cover was cracked, preventing the switch from functioning normally. Total repair bill - $1.50!
Very simple. Took off back cover with screwdriver. Popped off back cap found in center top inside. Replaced spring and white stick looking thing. Put black cover and then back panel back on. Instantly worked again.
It makes a beeping sound in the middle of the dishwashing.
Remove the screws from the door and replace the switch interlock and door latch.
The problem is fixed and the dishwasher works fine so far (about three weeks) now.
The source of the problem looks more like the door latch because I use to push the door in to get it going before I replace the parts.
The video I received via email that show the how to do it was very helpful.
————- Update after more than month. (12/30/2020) The problem still persists. However I have a possible solution for it that doesn’t require any parts at all. The entire dishwasher is tilted backward. As the washing started and the water pileup in the bottoms of the dishwasher, it pull the entire dishwasher back work causing the switch interlock to release (open the relay causing the door open been sounds).
Level the dishwasher so that it doesn’t tilt backwards and this should fix the issue. I will post the latest after a month. If you need more info I can send a picture to describe the issue more clearly. ————————— Update 01-06-2021 The problem still persists. The above theory I had was wrong and didn’t make any difference.
However, I have a permanent solution but it may not be ideal for most people ??. The relay that get close/open when the door is close/open is now always CLOSED. To start the dishwasher just press start and make sure you don’t open the door while the dishwasher is running. It will not stop. I am sorry and I know it’s not a good solution but it’s kind of funny.
