This fan motor is most times used with frost-free refrigerators with a condenser coil. When the compressor runs, so does this fan, circulating air through the refrigerator grille, cooling the compressor and condenser coils. This fan motor also helps to evaporate excess water in the drain pan.

Condenser fan non-functioning

We noticed the wall between the doors was quite hot. It is a side door refrigerator. Thank God we weren't gone on vacation, this could have caused our home to catch on fire!

Attempted it on my own with the aid of the video on your site, but could not remove the fan shroud due to additional copper lines that prevented me from getting it out. Gave up and called an appliance repair guy. He had a novel approach: Don't pull the fan shroud (with motor attached) out, but instead remove one of the screws holding

Frig stopped cooling compressor was very hot fan was not turning.
Remove back cover on frig, unplug wire on fan motor, remove one 1/4 screw from top right corner of fan cage, fan cage will come out with a little twist, take note of tabs on fan cage for reinstall, remove two more 1/4 screws, take care to watch where rubber bushings are located on motor and ground wire location, fan blade will pull off of

My Hotpoint is making a screeching noise like a eirrie scrapping on and off when it begins running. What would cause this

Hi Deborah, Thank you for the question. It would depend on the area of the appliance the noise is coming from. If it is coming from the back of the freezer it would be the Evaporator Fan Motor, PartSelect Number PS1766252. If it is coming from the bottom of the appliance, it would be the Condenser Fan Motor, PartSelect Number PS1766247. I suggest listening for the noise to see what section it is coming from. You can also try cleaning and checking the fan blades on the motors to ensure they are operating properly as well. Hope this helps!

In between doors and left outside freezer gets hot. Changed condenser fan, cleaned out all dirt inside and out side condenser. Still hot after i plugged it for 8 hrs. What is the next step, evaporator fan or temp sensors in the freezer part? Thanks in advance.

Hello Susan, thank you for writing. There are two different motors in all models. The Condenser Motor PS11701278 is located down where the compressor is located. The Evaporator Motor PS12741350 is located at the top of the freezer. We look forward to hearing from you.

Should the condenser cooling fan stay on all the time? My unit will run really cold for a while, well below what I set it at. Then it will start getting warmer and warmer to where it’s not functioning right. I’ve checked three of the thermistors, the condenser fan and the other fan and all our operational. The evaporator fan is new and came with a thermistor.

Hello Charlie, Thank you for the question. The Condenser Fan will run while the Compressor is running to keep it cool and air flow over the coils. We suggest testing the Temperature Sensor. If the Sensor is good, you may have to replace the Interface Control Board, PartSelect Number PS966899. We hope this helps!

Hello Richard, Thank you for your inquiry. No the fridge should keep working if the condenser fan is frozen. However, if it is not working, it can lead to other issues. If your fridge will not start, we would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: run capacitor, start relay/overload, defrost thermostat, defrost heater, temperature sensor, evaporator fan motor and the electronic control board. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

Not sure if this is the part I need. I replaced the sensor in fridge that is near the freezer because fridge side wasnt cooling. When finished with repair I turned breaker on and now nothing is running on either side. Only thing on is the light inside fridge. Checked the compressor starter relay and it didnt rattle. Do you have any suggestions?
