This manufacturer-certified dryer lint filter is used to collect lint during the dryer cycle, to prevent damage to the machine and to prevent lint from sticking to clothes. This model comes in white and is easy to install. It slides into the lint filter slot in your dryer. If there is visible damage to the screen then it's time to replace the part. Make sure you empty the lint filter after every use of the dryer and check the filter slot for an excess buildup of lint, which can shorten the life of your filter and be a fire hazard. The screen is approximately 20 inches in length, not including the handle, and around 8.5 inches wide.

I have a question about the lint screen. The handle has broken off, and it looks like there is a part number right on the handle - 8558459. It is a Centennial version of the Maytag electric dryer. Serial number is M50928667.

Lint screen was broken - replaced it with a new one.
There were no repairs - I just ordered a lint screen because the screen on the last one pulled away from the frame and wasn't doing a good job of catching the lint. Took approximately 2 seconds to push the new one in the slot.

Dryer would not turn off when door was opened!
Your video of the door switch replacement makes this job easy! My recommendation watch the video and you will have the switch replaced in a short time! My dryer was older than the dryer in the video but the principal of repair is the same! My new switch replacement fixed my dryer so when the door is opened the dryer shuts off!
Dryer didn't heat. I got the heating element thru sears and when I ordered it I thought I should also order the thermostats but I didn't. Element arrived two days after ordered right on time. Slipped right in in a few minutes. Turned dryer on. No heat. Went back to drawing board. Watched videos on part select site and realized I needed thermostats. Ordered them and lint filter. Arrived right on schedule and also slipped in in no time flat. Turned dryer on and yes it heated perfectly. Wife was pretty impressed with new lint filter as other one was torn with jagged edges. MY SUGGESTION: if your dryer doesn't heat and you can't test each individual item thermostats and heating element order the three of them ( high limit and cycling thermostats and heating element) cause they'll probably will all go at the same time anyway. Then won't have to wait on the second shipment if things don't work with partial replacement. Parts select was great and videos are well understood and easy to follow. Would certainly use again.
Used your web site to diagnose the problem. Ordered part. Part arrived the next day and within 30 minutes had the dryer up and running. Took back off of dryer, simply unscrewed the old thermal fuse and replaced it with the new one.
