The Lower Spray Arm Melted and split literally in half. It looks as if we can purchase a new one and just insert in the hole. Is there any other pieces we would need or does this just drop right in?
For model number GDT580SMF6ES
Hello Diane, Thank you for your inquiry. It should just drop into the conduit assembly, but if this is damaged you may need to replace it. We hope this helps.

Knocking sound during wash cycle
Replace all three spray arms and knocking sound disappeared. Unscrewed counter clockwise old sprayer arms and lifted. Replaced with new sprayer arms and noise disappeared.
One I figured out how to get the original contraption out, it was smooth sailing. I used pliers because thats all I had, but a socket wrench would have been much easier. The adapter has to be pressed a certain way to pull it out, but then the new one easily snapped back into place, and the nut went in mostly with ease. Again, a socket wrench would have been a much better tool to use.
There was no repair -- it was a simple snap-in replacement of lower spray arm assembly. The shaft holding the lower spray arm in place is plastic so of course it broke when a utensil blocked the arm from spinning.
I appreciate the Parts Select company for enabling me to purchase a replacement part though that allows me to keep my old dishwasher working.

All 3 spray arms were stoped up.
Replaced all 3 spray arms in less than 10 minutes. The top one came in two pieces, the mounting bracket and the arm.Snap the bracket on the dishwasher first , then attach the arm to the bracket.
The base of the spray arm literally just spins a little bit into place like a luer lock. Takes two seconds to replace.

Easy Repair. Quick. Exactly the right Part. Solved the issue
Issue was originally generated when a utensil poked through the bottom and hit the lower arm as it was spinning. This caused the lower arm to grind along the bottom metal guard during the cycle making loud sounds.
The part was easy to fix and quick and effective

Fixed the repetitive binging sound. Installs in 10 seconds.
My dishwasher made a repetitive banging sound. Sounds like the spray arm hitting a dish. But it is actually the arm being worn out. This went in in 10 seconds, and the dishwasher is quiet again.
