This long oven sensor is also commonly known as a temperature sensor. It is designed for use with ovens and ranges. It is similar to a thermostat; it measures and regulates the internal temperature of your oven cavity. There is an adapter at one end, a probe at the other, and they are connected by an insulated wire. The probe is approximately 7 inches long. You can test the sensor with a multi-meter for functionality. You need to check the model-specific manual to determine what the proper resistance is for your specific appliance. This oven sensor comes with two wire harness adapters and a set of instructions.

While cooking, i received a f-3 code, hit cancel couple of times and got f-7, hit cancel again and oven shut down. I then reset temp to 400 and in a few minutes received f-3 again, from what i see it is the oven temperature sensor. How do i know which one it is i don't see any part numbers in my manual.
For model number CWE4800ACB
Hello Keith, thank you for contacting us. The "F3" fault code is indicating an oven temperature sensor failure or a temperature sensor circuit failure. The oven temperature sensor could be open or shorted. It will need to be disconnected and tested with an ohm meter. At normal room temperature, the oven temperature sensor should have a resistance of 1050-1100 ohms. If it is not close to this it would need to be replaced. The f7 error code usually indicates a problem with the main control board. You may just want to try the oven sensor first, the main control board for your model has been discontinued. Hope this helps!

The upper oven bake element did not heat up. I replaced the element and I still have the same problem. What other items can I troubleshoot for?
For model number MER6751AAW
Hi Matt,
Thank you for your question. There are only a few parts that could cause an issue like this. The element itself (which you have already checked), the oven sensor, or the electronic control board. You can test your oven sensor with a multi meter to make sure that it is working. It should read 1000 - 1100 ohms of resistance when testing it at room temperature. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Broiler starts on its own on lower oven then overheats f2 code is this just the sensor or another part that causes this
For model number JJW9630AAW
Hi Dale,
Thank you for the great question. With the F2 Error code it is recommended the Sensor to be replaced. Before you order it is a good idea to make sure the harness on the sensor is securely attached,if it comes lose it can cause this error as well.
Hope this helps!

The lower oven isn't preheating or holding an oven temperature properly. It begins to heat, even to the point of red-hot, but loses it around 200 degrees. I can set the broiler to bring the temp up, switch to bake and see that the temp reads correctly, then it drops off. I haven't seen any error codes at all.

Cant set the clock on oven, red number and letter show up 5a6
For model number GGE350LWS00
Hello Karl, thank you for contacting us. Your oven is actually showing the error code SAB which is for sabbath mode. You can hold the clock button for 5-10 seconds and it should take it out of sabbath mode, if not you may have to wait 72 hours for it to go off by itself. Hope this helps!

Oven won't heat at all broil setting won't work either
For model number Cwe4800acb
Hi Robert,
Sorry to hear the oven is not heating. Sometimes the issue can be caused by either the bake or broil elements or it may be the long oven sensor. One way to check is with an Ohms/Multi Meter. I hope this helps. Have a great day!

Every thing works but when using upper or lower oven temp. Readings do not light up on screen.
For model number MER6772BAW
Hi Fred,
Thank you for your question. If the oven is not heating correctly, then the issue is likely with the oven sensor, sometimes called the oven thermostat, and you will need to check it with a multimeter. When testing the sensor with a multimeter, the sensor should be tested at room temperature and it should be unplugged from the oven. You will need to measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. Replace the oven sensor if the reading is less than 900 Ohms or more than 1200 Ohms. If this part turns out to be fine, you will need to check the electronic control board, the elements and the wiring between them to see which parts are causing the issue. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Oven temp is actually lower than the display setting by a marginal amount. I’m assuming i have a bad temp sensor, just wondering which sensor i needed. Also if u could me the resistance reading at room temp for the sensor. I saw it is supposed to be around 1082

Hello Keith, thank you for your question. The upper oven sensor is part number WP7430P044-60 and the lower oven sensor is part number 12001656. At normal room temperature, the oven temperature sensor should have a resistance of 1050-1100 ohms. If it is not close to this it would need to be replaced. I hope this helps!

Maytag electric oven. When baking, oven will periodically shut off. Have to reset temperature control and clock.I was thinking may be temperature sensor?
For model number cre9800ccb
Hi Jeff,
Thank you for your inquiry. If the oven is not shutting off, you will need to check the long oven sensor, the electronic control board to see which one is causing the issue. To do this you will need a multimeter. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Oven not holding 350 F, when cooling the coils did not reheat
Removed the oven door by opening slightly, then pic door up to remove. Remove 2 screws holding oven sensor in place, gently pull on sensor to remove, had to remove about 8 inches to get at plastic connector. Unplug connector, had to use an adapter cable supplied with the PartSelect kit to install new sensor, push cable back into opening, reinstall 2 screws. The oven works fine! Note that due to thermal lag the temperature overshoots to 370 degrees and undershoots to 340 degrees, this appears to be normal oven operation. Putting door back in place was easy.

F1-1 code
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the sensor out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. Next, I connected new sensor and screwed the new sensor back in place. One area for caution. Make sure that the electrical connection is pushed in past the insulation on the back side of the oven. Failure to do so will cause the plastic plug connector to melt from oven heat.

Repeated oven temperature sensor fault codes.
First I removed the two philips screws inside the oven that hold the element in place. Then I pulled the sensor out and the two insulated wires through the hole to reveal the plastic connector. I unsnapped it from the connector and replaced it with the new element. Then, behind the oven, I removed five or six philips screws on the right side of the large panel so I could pull the wires back through the layer of fiberglass insulation to make sure only the sensor itself would be exposed to the oven's heat. I then secured the back panel again and replaced the two philips screws holding the sensor in place.

Oven would not shut down, kept heating
The front oven control panel was already in need of replacement. The digital readout had quit working sometime ago, so we began by replacing the control panel as well as the temperature probe. Neither of these items did the trick. Next I replaced the HI/Lo sensor switch. This replacement was a bit more labor intensive. Have to remove several screws and remove a large portion of the top of the stove. Once access is gained to the hi/lo switch, it takes (2) minutes to replace it. This of course did not take care of the problem either. Finally I replaced the bake/broil/convection circuit board. This was a bit of a job, only because of the amount of wires to and from this board. I litterally took a picture of the board (from this web site) and drew in the wires and marked them by color and noted where they went. I then merely unplugged each wire and with one screw, removed the board and installed the new one. After plugging in the wires as per my picture, SUCCESS. The board did the trick. Over all, it was not bad doing the work myself. I know we saved a lot of money my doing it ourselves. Just gotta have patience.
Oven wouldn't heat the right temperature (you would have to add 100 degrees on to it)
Pulled oven out of the cabinet/wall and pulled sensor out and replaced with new one.

Built in oven would shut down: fault code F-4
A few years previously I had this same problem and a PROFESSIONAL had replaced the sensor. Thus this time I knew what the failure was and obtained the sensor from Part Select. Having observed the PROFESSIONAL replace the sensor before; I followed his easy technec only to learn that when the sensor was pulled from the aft wall of the oven that the wires had deteriorated and the plastic plug melted. Therefore it was neccessary to remove the oven from the wall cabinet. Then I removed the panel from the back outside of the oven, cut back the wires and because the kit from Part Select contained additional connectors was able to splice in a replacement connector. Installed the new sensor and reinstalled the oven. LESSON LEARNED; when the PROFESSIONAL had replaced the sensor he had failed to feed the wiring and plug back past the insulated chamber, directly behind the oven, into the cool area assessable by the panel on the aft side of the oven thus the plug and wires were exposed to the heat of the oven. What would commonly be a few minutes job turned into an afternoon project.

Very Little Heat
Website it showed video of how to test components with a digital tester, and then upon ordering parts, the repair wass fairly easy for a do-it-yourselfer.
Checked online to see what F3 readout on stove meant. It meant replace sensor. Ordered part on a Sunday and part delivered Tuesday, Monday being MLK day. Detached bad sensor(2 screws inside oven)had to pull new sensor connector through hole from behind as insulation was too heavy (only removed 4 screws on right rear panel.Clipped wires together and reattached sensor inside oven. A cakewalk.

Oven failed to maintain the set temperature.
Removed the old sensor by removing two screws and pulling the wire out through the hole. Disconnected the connector and discarded the old sensor. Selected the correct connector of the 3 provided, plugged the new sensor in and threaded the wire back into the hole paying special attention to make sure wire and connector was on the backside of the insulation. Assembled the two screws and tightened.

Oven door locked and was flashing code F4
First, thanks to PartsSelect for getting the part to me so quickly. I went to the "Instant Repairman" , checked all that applied to my problem. The answer was the sensor, 99% of the time.I used a coat hanger to pull the latch back and open the door. I watched the video and followed the instructions to remove the old sensor. The wires were melted but the plug was still good. I used one of the adapters to install the new sensor, then replaced the two screws inside the oven. I pulled the stove out because I had read in the reviews that you needed to get the plug behind the insulation away from the oven wall. I was lucky ,there was a small hole in the back ,right behind the sensor.I gently pulled the wire and plug to the back ,well away from the oven wall. Put the stove back in place ,threw the breaker and was back cooking again!! My stove has a downdraft vent, took me longer to hook the vent back up than to install the sensor..Oh yes, did I say,I am a75 year old female and I did it all myself..

The part was delivered when promised but it didn’t fix my issue even though it stated it fixed the problem 71 percent of the time for ovens with no heat or low heat. I even purchase a new heating element which had the next highest probability and it still didn’t work. Lost faith in your troubleshooting application

Most excellent part
There are not enough words to say thank you for your wonderful salesperson whom I spoke with on the phone to purchase the replacement part. I had been advised by a repairman that I paid to diagnose the overheating issue with my double wall Maytag oven, that I needed a "new oven" I read reviews on your web site, and I decided to take a chance after speaking to the, most wonderful salesperson, after I received the part, I watched your video to learn what and how to do removal and replacement. I have to say "THANK YOU" once again, the oven works as it should after installing new long oven sensor, I saved myself thousands of dollars, the cost of replacing a double wall oven, Thank you once again

No clue what was wrong
I did not know what was wrong with my oven , it is only five years old when I turned it on , we could never get the temp higher than 225 .
The element looked like new so I ordered this item thinking it must be the problem. It shipped in a few days and the install was easy. The oven still does not work. I ordered the element and it arrived in a few days as well . The install was easy . The oven works great ,
