My frig side was not cooling, the freezer section not working either. I had a repairman come out. Said the coils are all frozen, melted the ice and said call if it ices up again. Said there is a part to replace that will keep the coils from freezing up. After some research, i was led to this part. Is this what the part will do?
For model number GSL25JFTA
Hello Lori, Thank you for your inquiry. The damper controls the flow of cold air from the freezer to the fridge and the thermistor is a temperature sensor which sends the temperature reading of the refrigerator towards the control board. It is actually the defrost heater assembly that keeps the evaporator coils from freezing-part# WR51X10055. I would also check the defrost thermostat as well-part# WR50X10065. Hope this helps!

How do I test if a GE damper WR60X10215 is working correctly (able to open and close)? Thanks.
For model number GSL25JFTABS
Hi A,
Glad to hear from you. To test the air damper, first unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet. The housing that the damper is encased in is often made of plastic with a Styrofoam lining and may have a foam seal to prevent air leakage. Care should be used when inspecting the housing to avoid damage to the seal or the Styrofoam. Some refrigerator models use a temperature sensing bulb attached to this control that will automatically adjust the control for changes in the interior temperature. Make sure that the sensing bulb is in the correct position and is not damaged. Attempt to operate the control knob to verify that the linkage is intact and that it moves freely. If the baffle is stuck in the closed or nearly closed position or does not move freely, then you need a replacement air inlet damper or baffle. We hope this helps!
