Dryer's hum has been louder than usual. Now when you turn the dryer on it just hums louder than usual but drum does not turn.Which part needs replaced? Thank you.

Hi Gil, Thank you for the question. First thing to try is when the door switch is pushed in or the door is closed and you start the dryer, listen for the click noise. If there is no click noise when it is activated you may need to replace the switch. If the switch is working, try opening the door while holding the door switch closed. Turn the knob to start. Then turn the drum in the correct direction by hand. If it starts then you may need a new motor. Before you order a motor, take the dryer apart and check the belt, the rear support bearing, front glides, idler wheel, drum seals, etc. to see if there is any visible damage to these items that are preventing the drum to start. Also make sure there is no lint or dust built up on the motor and the motor switch. If you have a air compressor or a can of air it will do the trick. Hope this helps!
