The refrigerator is not cooling it is staying on 63 degrees. The freezer is working. Food in bottom veg drawer has ice crystals. Could this be a defective fan? Thanks Calvin

Hello Calvin, Thank you for the question. We suggest testing the Temperature Sensor. This sensor sends the temperature reading of the compartment to the control board. If you notice your refrigerator is too warm, too cold, or not defrosting properly, then there may be a problem with your sensor. You can also Test the Sensor. The best way to do this is to remove the thermistor from the refrigerator so you can control the temperature of the sensor. You can let the sensor warm up to room temperature or grab a glass of ice water to test the thermistor. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. With the thermistor submerged is a glass full of ice water, the sensor should be very close to 32°F which should read approximately 16.3K Ohms. If the values that you are getting are far off from these readings, then the sensor is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps!

In the refrigerator section, the bottom is freezing over. There is a fan that sounds like it is making contact with something (possibly ice) every time it turns back on. The fan turns off as soon as I open the refrigerator doors and start up again when I close them. I had a technician come out about 4 years ago for the same problem and he said this is a known problem with these refrigerators. All he did was replace a fan and the issue was resolved...until now. I believe I need to replace this same fan just not sure which one it was.

Hi Jake, thank you for your inquiry. Refrigerators use air vents to circulate cold air and ensure a consistent temperature throughout the storage area. In order to ensure the proper temperature, you need to allow room for proper airflow between the freezer and refrigerator compartments. If food is blocking these air vents, it will be exposed to more cold air and may freeze over time. You may also need to put more food in your refrigerator: A fully stocked fridge does a better job of absorbing cold air. If you do not have enough items inside, that cold air will settle on the bottom shelf and may freeze the food stored there. If this is not the issue, we recommend replacing the evaporator fan motor, part number PS16226575. We hope this solves your problem!
